Starchoice 65E Eliptical Dish and dual LNB

I have this dish, the dual lnb consists of 2 stacked linear lnbs, to change between the 2 you use the 22k switch on the receiver at least thats what I think. I believe that this dish is used to pick up signals from the 2 Anik birds at 107.3 and 111.1 but how to set it up? I'd like to try this dish on two other sats in similar positions in relationship to each other. I've had some success with the eliptical dishs and a single lnb not a real strong signal but steady and with little fade in the rain. Any input would be appreciated.

Well, you could try IA5 and AMC4, they are 4 degrees apart so that should work with your dish if its big enough. I don't see a StarChoice oval dish being big enough for most FTA satellites but some members on this forum say they work. You will have to play around with the skew to optimize signal.

I am using a 60 cm starchoice and I get 88 % signal quality in most transponders and 58 to 64 % on 2 transponders. I think those dishes have a good gain.

Yes, but where are you? magog45 is in Northern Ontario.

Are you sure you have found Satmex? Are all your transponder settings on the receiver configured correctly? What kind of receiver are you using?

BTW: I am going to delete all your other posts because you have posted this same question all over the place and it wastes bandwidth.

I see your problem. Those channels you want (Equavisa, etc.) are on the C-band side of the satellite (SatMex 5). This is why you can't get them. For these you need a big 6 foot (or bigger) dish and C-band LNB. With your setup you can only receive KU band transponders (like in this case 11,740 MHz and higher). ---> http://www.lyngsat.com/sm5.html

Oso;...a 36" dish won't pick up the c-band stuff.your best bet is to get a motorized dish.If you have not put one in,start with a 36" fixed dish, and try to pick up some of the birds listed on lyngsat.write back, and list some of the stuff you wanna watch, and someone will let you know what is out there and on which bird. 8)

Oso;..I see that you already have the 32" starchoice...this is very adequate to pick up a good deal of programming.are you fixed or motorized?

I believe bobkat is correct in that c-band dishes generally start in the 6 foot range.
