Confused Newbe

I am just trying to get started in the FTA area, and am not doing too well.
I calculated my azimuth and elevation as 211.9 and 45.4 my polarization is 21.6.
I can get 82 on the strenth but no quality.
I have the dual KU LNBF PT5500, I have set it up as the standard with the lo freq. set to 10750.
I did buy the SF95 signal strength meter and the good signal strenth comes in at like 230 azmith.
One of my questions is when I look at the LyngSat web pages they all refer to the satelittes with locations like 110 degrees W EchoStar8. What is this location and how does it relate to the azimuth and elevation I set.
Also when looking at the LyngSat pages and I see North America, Atlantic, Asia etc. locations are these referring to signals broadcast from there or able to be received there?
Thanks for the info.

Confused Newbe

I am trying to get to the Telstar5 sat.
I have the Fortec Star LifeTime ULTRA receiver with a 36 inch dish.
No positioning motors.

Re: Confused Newbe

Make sure:
1. You set the LOF correctly.
2. Use active transponder when tuning the dish.
3. You set the skew correctly.
Tuning a Ku dish is a bit tricky since the signal is weak.
Michael.

Please excuse my ignorance but :
The LOF is the Lo Freq. that I set at 10750, correct?
Where do I find information on active transponders?
What is skew?
Thanks again and sorry for being shch a dummy.
Jack
