Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

Trying to set up my system and becoming vision challenged. lol I cannot seem to get myself up and running with any sucess for the past 2 weeks. I may be too much of a perfectionist but think that setting things up right is the only way to success.

Many of questions have arisen and seems like info is inconsistant. I figured i would give my info and you tell me if I am wrong in the info collected.

Hardware:

I have purchased a fortec Lifetime Ultra receiver with SM3D12 motor. I have a 31" fortec FS80P dish and universal fortec star 0.4 DB single (FSKU-v) lnbf setup.

Well at least you know what I have now!

Installation location information:

Miami, Florida 33025 Lat 25.99 Long 80.27W

I live in an apartment complex and have a rail on my balcony
(IIIIIII) even looks like my rail. lol My view is western exposure but can see 180 degrees south looking left (south) off my balcony.

Based on this information, Please let me know if my thinking is correct.

Installation

Installed my dish bracket on a 18" wide by 9" high 3/4 plywood and mounted on the rail with u clamps. I have the dish and mount all pointing 183 degrees South. 180 plus 3 degrees deviation. Made sure the mounting arm is level and plummed.

Motor Installation

Placed the motor on pole, (motor preset to 0 and arrow pointed). Set the elevation angle of the motor to 26 which is my latitude (25.99).

Dish Installation

Mounted dish on arm from motor and fastened with 3" bolt supplied. Seems cheesy though. Only one hole can be used on the arm because there is only one hole in the round mount connecting to that arm.

Question 1: Should I drill another hole to get a more sound fit? Here is what it looks like :

http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/F...ishes/Brkt.JPG

The top bolt there is the only one going thru the motor arm

Question 2: Using page 11 of the installation manual, http://sadoun.com/Sat/Products/SATCO...OUN-SM3D12.pdf, the graph only shows 30 for a latitude. My lat is 26, what elevation should i use? I calculated 42.5? Is that correct?

Question 3:Also based on this view, http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/F...ishes/Brkt.JPG, what is dictating the proper elevation angle? The left side of the bolt on the tic mark, the middle of the bolt on the tic mark or the right side of the bolt on the tic mark? There is no red mark or anything to reference and no instructions anywhere relating to this type of dish mount that i can see.

LNB Installation

Question 4:Based on my installation location, it says i do not need positive or negativepolarization. Is that a true and accurate figure?

Anything that anyone can think of I would appreciate your opinions.

Concerns, opinions and criticisms are welcome!

Thanks

I think I see your problem.

You have the wrong bracket. The one you have is NOT for mouting on a motor.
You need this one:

The clamp part on the right side clamps on the curved stem of the rotor.
I have the same motor as you, and the clamp shown in my post back to you and it works fine.

This pic shows the clamp on the motor stem, imagine if you turned your motor over this is what it would look like:

http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/F...Bolt-Motor.jpg

Then the thing on the left replaces the part you currently have on your dish that the pole is supposed to go into...

Here's a better view with everything together:

There is nothing wrong with your mount, it's just made for the J pole wall fixed attachment, not a motor device.

Yeah, things should be better once you get the right mount going.
Read some of the other replies I made to your other questions, you should be good if you follow the instructions.

Good luck

Tecbiy

The pole mount you already have on your dish should work just fine on the Satcontrol SM3D12 HH motor. You don't really need the U-Bolt mount as the other member suggested (even though it works also).

Don't use the U shaped bolt that comes with the motor to attach the dish. Just remover the top bolt on (shown in the picture http://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/F...ishes/Brkt.JPG
) Slide the bracket up the motor shaft. Lign up the holes, and slide the bolt you took out back. Tighten the two bolts on the bracket.

See this picture (it kinda explains what I am saying: http://sadoun.com/Sat/Products/Motech/MOTECH-SG2100.jpg)

Interesting. I thought the motor's shaft would have been too small diameter to fit that J pipe mount. And more importanty, the degree scale would no longer "work" right.

Oh well. I'm still a newbie, too

Man Im more confused than ever now!

First of all, the motor did not come with a u clamp or instructions. I feel cheated. The way Admin suggested i do it is the way i thought it worked from the beginning. I have been doing it just like that already. Problem is its only one bold supporting the whole dish and believe it or not is rickity. Using the other bracket seems logical to me. Any other ideas are welcome.
