bypassing built in multiswitches
dts and kat...just so you know,i went back to august 2002 searching for this topic before posting. i have recently come into several triple lnb dishes with built in multiswitches that i would like to disable or bypass in order to use w/ diseqc switches. One model is a DTV dish made by "DNC"....does anyone have any experience disabling the multiswitch or applying an adapter to use 3 regular lnb's with this and other models.ANY info in this area would be appreciated.(fire up the torch, its cannibal time!) :? :?:

Are you talking about the Y-shaped lnbf holder, which allows one mounting 2 lnbfs? If so, it is designed for the Dish500. The 18" dish is actually not designed for multiple sats. It might works though since DishNet/BellVu signal is pretty strong. But when it rains, 18" will suffer rain-fade worser than larger dish.

Good point Michael. Also, the focal distance would be inaccurate because the 20" Dish500 has a shorter LNB arm than an 18" dish has; this is to compensate for the length of the Y-adapter when calculating focal distance. A Y-adapter might work with an 18" dish but the signal would not be the greatest.

dts, kat;have not orderedm one,but saw the picture. It is already skewed, and simply fits where the lnbf would go.dish 500's are so cheap on e-bay I have no need to try this thing.cheers.

P.S;...this is actually a "sidearm" type mount where the second lnbf is mounted skewed next to the original...therefore no "Y" extension.could work...they are selling them!

Hey swamp:
I checked out fleabay and found that gizmo; it is indeed designed for 18" round dishes. Looks like it should work, but I still think the signal strength would suck... :?
