also the dbs-2000 doesn't give the name of the satellite it's locked on. I know that the echostar does in some way (expressvu) if I would hook up the echostar receiver could I find galaxy 10R?

Yes, but you need to use a circular polarity LNB and set your receiver's L.O. frequency to 11,250 MHz

No, it will only lock onto a DishNetwork or an ExpressVu satellite

There is this PID menu when you search for channels, what's that for? and how does it work?

I'm just still trying to figuer out why I can't get any channels, while I'm locked onto galaxy 10R when I do the scan for channels, it doesn't find any.

HeHeHe....
Now you're getting technical...
That is where you can manually enter the packet identifier data if you wanted to manually search for a particular channel within a transponder. You will notice (in the lyngsat listings) that every channel has a VPID and APID -- video and audio packet indentifiers. For example; take T5 transponder 9 (11,898 MHz); take the Dubai EDTV Europe channel; the VPID is 4898 and the APID is 4899. If you were to enter these PID parameters into your receiver and do a scan, it would find only that channel.

Yeah I did that yesterday, and I'm still having the same problem, could it be that it's locked on the wrong satellite?
or that maybe the lnb is no good?

When I'm right on the arc, and I start from east and go west, should the strength and quality peak at each satellite or does it just peak on transponder, or the satellite selected?

The strength and quality will peak at each satellite but with the BEC receivers, the strength and quality bars turn yellow when it reaches the satellite you are trying to find. So when the bars turn yellow that means it is locked onto the right satellite; at this point you would do a SCAN SAT and the channels should get downloaded and stored into memory. Don't forget to press "OK" and then "EXIT" after the scan - this will ensure the channels get stored. Then go into the "EDIT CHANNELS" list and see what's there. I did not know you had a motor - did you set up the receiver for DiSEqC 1.2 protocol?

Well; the best way is to do a bit of reading; everything you need to know for aligning motorized dishes is right here on this site; either in Sadoun's most excellent instructions or else on the HH MOTOR forum in various threads.

alright I'm getting a wack of tp's now 6 on galaxy 10R and a few on telstar 5 they are locked and all around 73% (signal and quality), I'm assuming that the ok button is the center on with the looks like "Enter" on the keyboard?
(Still no channels)

Well, I use several. But the instructions I have been posting here pertain to the BEC 6600+/6800 series. I can only assume that your BEC 2000 is fairly similar.
