Should I alter my dish pointing?

I got the two LNBs on my dish, a circular and a linear. The linear is in the middle and the circular one on the left of it.... Now.... because the circular one isn't in the center and is off to the left a bit.. does that mess up the actual pointing? Should I be setting the location a degree or so back because of the placement of the circular LNB?

The mounting of the LNBs - circular or linear - will not affect their operation. The dish must be big enough to aim at 2 satellites at the same time and pull in strong enough signal from both birds.

Thanks bob, the dish is a winegard 76 CM... should be big enough shouldn't it? Oh. and I have an SG-2100 motor on it.

Oh and I forgot to ask this as well....

OK for the motor to work proper with USALS.. should I point the dish at True South or at the Closest bird totrue south? I'm at 77w and the AMC5 is at 79W.... to make sure it aims proper with USALS which should I set the 0 position at and aim the dish to?

There are 2 deg differences between your long and AMC5. Use USALS to move the dish to AMC5, then try to get lock on it. Make sure you set up the LO correctly and use active transponders on AMC5 when tuning the dish.
Some SG 2100 is not USALS compatible. When you use USALS to move the dish to AMC5, you should see the dish move towards the WEST slightly. My SG2100 in one the non-USALS compatible.
Good luck,
Michael

Hey Dts, thanks for the reply.
I think my SG2100 is one of the ones that doesn't work with USALS as well
Whenever I try to use it the motor keeps missing the bird I'm trying to point at. It does move the motor just not to the right place.
Regarding the LO.. I have the LNB set to Standard at 11250. Is this correct? This is my setup:

2 Pansat 2500a receivers.
Winegard 76 cm DS2076 Dish
One dual sat quad output Linear LNB (picture here for reference: http://www.quintemusic.com/images/starchoicelnb.jpg)
One dual output circular LNB (NOT dual sat)
Two Microyal SW-22 22Khz (I did have two Hughes 22Khzs switches but changed them)
One SG-2100 Motor

Right now I have the circular LNB hooked up straight through from LNB to motor and motor to receiver without the switch to make sure the dish is set up properly. Once I get it bang on with a couple circular birds I was going to hook up the linear LNB and fine tune a couple linear birds. Then once I know I got the two LNBs set up right and the dish pointed and elevated right I was gonna add the switch. Could you, or someone take a look at the LNB pic in the above link and let me know if I'm correct on how I am going to set this up..

Here's how I was going to set it up:
Main house receiver will be the receiver that will drive the motor.
Hardware setup:
Circular LNB hooked to 22KHz ON input on the switch, Linear to the other input.
Output from switch to LNB connector on Motor, then out to receiver.

Receiver setup:
Linear LNB set up as Standard, Local Freq 11250, 22KHz OFF, DiseqC OFF, Skew 0 degrees, Positioner setting 1.2.
Circular LNB set up as Standard, Local Freq 11250, 22KHz ON, DiseqC OFF, Skew 0 degrees, Positioner setting 1.2.

I am setting up the second receiver the same except it won't be going through the motor so the Poistioner settings will be OFF for both LNBs on this one.

Is this correct or should I change something?
Again thanks, and thanks in advance for further assistance.

The Starchoice linear you have is band-stacked, 2 LO as I know. 22khz tone is used to switch between the LOs. I don't know much about how Starchoice shift the freq. I would recommend you to first use either a standard or universal lnbf for setting up the h-h mount. Once you get the dish tracks the arc correctly, then replace the lnbf with the Starchoice and play with it to figure out how it works.
11250 is for circular. 100% sure it's not for Starchoice. Let's get the dish track the arc OK first, we'll deal with the lnbf type later.

Even if it is non-stacked, this lnbf actually has 2 feedhorns built inside. It designed to hit 2 sats in one dish, therefore the focal length of both feedhorns is off a bit from the center, which might not work well with motorized dish. In addition, you will need to figure out which feedhorn is 0mhz or 22khz.

Ahh, ok thanks Michael. Based on what it says on the back of it horn A is 0KHz and horn B is 22KHz. I figured if I use an SW-22 switch with the two LNBs and set the cirular one to ON and the linear to off if would just use horn A on the StarChoice one.
I have also rigged up a mounting bracket that will allow me to make sure both the circular and linear LNBs are as close to center as possible.
I'm hoping it works....

Also, I've just started running into problems with the motor.. when I hit Go to reference it won't go to 0. It goes to 15 for some reason. Tried a hardware reset and everything and it still does it.... On another SG2100 motor I have here for some reason it won't move the dish when I change to a channel from one bird to another. It's set on 1.2 for positioner setting.... do these SG2100 motors have a history of not acting properly?

My SG2100 works fine, the only thing I don't like is that it's not fully USALS compatible, so I end up using it in Diseqc 1.2 mode. I use Fortec 786v3 with this mount.

Hey... DTS... when ya use 1.2 for the positioner setting do ya have to set the DiseqC setting to #1 or #2 or whatever or is that setting for switches... I'm assuming it was for switches...

No, it won't affect your set up since you don't use Diseqc switch. You will need to set up the 22khz tone correctly.
