AMC3 reception problem

Sometimes my Ultra remote control unit stops working on the AMC3 channels. At other times I can only change the channel; the other buttons on the remote won't work. This seems to happen after I tune the strong, non PBS channels on 11735 MHz (H) 6.102 Msps. Quality is 77-90 with a strength of 80 on this transponder.
On 12110 MHz (H) 14.025 Msps on the other hand, a typical quality reading is 35-45, Strength 80. I am wondering if I should adjust my dish for a higher quality. But then, If one transponder is real strong in quality the whole satellite should be spot on. Right? Anyone else experiencing a similar problem? Any thoughts, insight or comments appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: AMC3 reception problem

On the same sat, some transponders are stronger than the others. The are not the same in terms of signal strength and quality. Look like to need to peak your dish.

I have had exactly the same problem. With a little trial and error
discovered it was the pbs hdtv channel that was locking up the receiver.
Don't think there is a fix.

Thanks lintond. I can live with it.
dtsexpert, If the transponders differ in quality readings then it would follow "that's as good as it gets" right? I suppose I could get up there and monkey with it a bit though. Thanks again.

You could go to the TP Edit menu and delete that PBS HDTV transponder 12128. That will remove those channels from your receiver and you will not be switching through them.

Or, you could go to the Channel Edit menu and mark the PBS HDTV channels to be skipped when you change channels on AMC3. BTW, the channel edit menu in the ULTRA is very versatile.

I downloaded the new Ultra firmware update. Then I did another power scan for AMC3 to get the full lineup. I deleted the transponder that has the PBS HD channel. Presto, no more lock up! Thanks Sadoun. I also used the channel edit feature to remove a few of the MTA channels that appear to be the same thing/redundant.

Montana PBS sound

I don't have audio on Montana PBS. I noticed it after my last Power scan. Anyone else having problems? Alll the other PBS channels are good, sound-wise. Thanks.

Same here. Noticed about 4 or 5 days ago it was out, figured it was at their end and they'd have it fixed by now. Unfortunately, not yet.

I had same problem. Had to powerdown the receiver sometimes. Also, The PBS Kids channel (and 2~3 other PBS channels) on AMC3 doesn't have audio. Anyone has a fix for that?

Many Thanks.
Banboo

The PBS ones (except for Montana) broadcast in AC-3 audio
Your receiver needs to be able to decode it
