Your dish is too small. Minimum dish size required for your area is 30" and 36" would be better. 22khz is used for swithing between two signal sources (two dishes using a switch). Kinda like a 2 Way DiSEqC switch.

Check http://sadoun.com/Sat/Products/Acces.../Dish-Size.htm for dish size requirements

with a 30" dish, how good a LNB needed ?

I mean, LNB's noise need to be better than 0.7db or 1.0db, ....
I have 76cm and a LNB with no info on noise, I can 't get any signal, don't know why.

I am in Vancouver BC , the dealer said 76cm is enough, I wonder they may use 0.6db or better LNB ?

A 75 cm dish should be fine for T5 in Michigan, except perhaps the northern part of the state - a bigger dish might be required in that case. The thing that scares me is that you are getting signal from one of DirecTV's satellites; this means you are using a circular polarity LNB - which will NOT work for T5 - you need a linear polarity LNB for T5.

I got signal by satfinder not the actual .
I try to put the LNB from directv in the dish and work ok with directv. then I replace directv LNB with eagle aspen .6 ku LNBF , and put receiver in got no signal, try to turn left little bit still no signal, try to turn right still nosignal .

eagle aspen ku-lnbf single out put.
I set both nornal, and universal but not work.
thinking about getting a bigger dish but not sure this problem was solved or not.

The dish size is not the problem - not likely anyway.

The problem is that you are trying to find T5 with a satfinder; I cannot find T5 with my Channel Master meter; the signal is just too weak for most meters to get an accurate lock on. Plus, Bell ExpressVu's main satellite (Nimiq 91) is very close and so is Galaxy 3C (95 degrees); these strong satellites overpower Telstar 5 (97 degrees).

I suggest you take your receiver and a little TV set out to the dish and align it that way.

The LNB you have; it should be a model # 1700; Eagle Aspen also makes circular polarity "pop can" style LNBs; but if like you say when you try to get DirecTV when you put this LNB on the dish and get no DirecTV signal, then I'm pretty sure you have the right LNB.

Also, try setting the local oscillator frequency (on the receiver) to 10,750 MHz rather than 10,600 MHz.

Let us know your results.

kat

BTW: if you have your dish locked onto DirecTV now; then move it about 4 degrees east (to your left when you are standing behind the dish) and 3 to 4 degrees up in elevation.

Good Luck

I'm getting very scared here !!

If your dish does not allow you to turn the LNB then its GOT to be some type of circular polarity LNB; do me a favor and write down all the numbers on the LNB and the dish (any markings) and post it here. We've got to get to the bottom of this.

OK; just checked your LNB specs - its a linear polarity LNB so no problem there; the L.O. frequency for that puppy is 10,750 MHz - so make sure to set your receiver accordingly. As for LNB rotation; it MUST be possible. The LNB and clamp are designed that way. Just loosen the clamp and rotate the LNB.

now - the trees....

if the trees are to the left of where your DirecTV dish is pointing then they will cause a problem, as T5 is left (east) of DTV 101. Perhaps you could find a different mounting location for the 30" dish.

I dont know it is the dish problem or some thing (wineguard 75cm dish).
I use this dish to get directv signal but can not get more than 80 on signal bar . may be tree block signal ?
and with oval I get get signal bar up to 95 , so there is a problem with dish?

I'm getting mixed signals here...

What exactly are you using the dish for?? DTV or Telstar 5?

Please re-read the above posts and try to figure out your situation.

I use it to get t5, but for explain about quality of dish. I give an example of getting DTV .
I think if the dish is good I can get 98 on DTV right ? but I get only 70
do you think I should buy a bigger dish ? about 90cm ?

A bigger dish is always better but your Winegard 76 cm should be just fine. I've installed hundreds of Winegard 2076's around Toronto and they pull in a decent signal off T5.

However I 'm still confused about how you are able to get a DirecTV signal using the LNB you have.

Something is not right here.

ohhhh, I replace lnbf with dtv lnb to get dtv signal then exchange the LNBF later and fine tune to get t5 signal but useless.
now I dont know what is wrong:
1 receiver not good
2 dont have clear sky
3 dish installation problem
4 LNBF problem

make me crazy .

RE:T5 issues

Are you using a motorized dish motor or is you dish fixed?

OK:

We'll go over this one more time.

1) receiver not good: there is probably nothing wrong with the receiver - this would be the absolute last thing I check

2) don't have clear sky - possible - if the trees are to the LEFT of where you point the dish for DirecTV signal than I would suspect a tree problem

3) dish installation problem - very possible - make sure the dish mounting foot mast is PERFECTLY plumb and level in both directions - use a mini level

4) LNBF problem - no, unless it is a circular polarity LNB, and from what you tell us in your earlier posts I'm satisfied that it is not circular

So..... go back and read the above posts and advice and try again.

kat

PS: make sure you configure the receiver to the correct local oscillator frequency for your LNBF - it should be 10,750 MHz; also make sure you select an ACTIVE TRANSPONDER when you search for signal; I use 12,152.
