Why use a mini positioner if you have a birdog

I am new at this.

Why should I use a Mini positioner $45 which lets you stay on ground and move dish by this remote east, west, etc. while using receiver, when I have a birdog meter that power the LNB from the roof and will give me an audible tone while I move the dish by hand, up on the roof. Is it because I wont sweep out the rainbow arc accurately enough and need to let the motor do that, or is it because storing the coordinates in the receiver box is impossible to do from the roof?

The mini positioner lets you move the motor east to west while at the dish site ; so you don't have to drag the receiver outside. You want to sweep the arc once you have finalized dish alignment to ensure your dish is tracking the arc properly. The Birdog, of course, cannot make the motor move.

Sometimes we use the mini positioner MP01 and the Birdog to do a motorized installation and it works great. We use the BIRDOG to provide power to the motor and the MP01.

while were on the subject

I was going to purchase a "birddog" but noticed they do not work with "universal lnbf". I used to have a KU but it stunk and I purchased a universal from Sadoun. Do they make anything like a bird dog that will work with a universal lnbf for FTA?

Apparantly this meter will work with both standard and universal LNBs:

Thank you

Being new I thought the bird dog was the only one that would identify the satellites by name. Thanks
