What is the shortest lenght of cable?

Me and my friend planify to install a Free-To-Air system on Telstar 5 as soon as I get my hands on a 30 inch dish. The system is : a 30 inch round star choice dish with a non-stacked lnb and a Digipro receiver. My question is : How short can the cable be? We need less than 10 meters. The dish will be on the wall and the wire will pass trough the wall and will be connected to the receiver near it. I've heard that using less than 50 feet is not recommended, is that true?

Its usually the reverse that's a problem -- using too long a cable. There is nothing wrong with having a short length of cable.

Nothing wrong with using a short cable.

Using a long cable beyond 100 ft will require an Inline Amplifier. It is recommended you keep the amplifier closer to the dish than the receiver. It makes a good difference on weak signals. I highly recommend it for long runs of cables.
