Please help me with installation of the Fortec ultra blind s
Hello every one.
I recently purchased Fortec star Life time ultra blind search with the biger size dish (90cm) in order to view Persian chanels.
I installed the dish and connect to the reciver. I can get any quality. the level is 70 to 76% but quality is 0%.
I did plorization at +30 and elevation at 54 degree and azumith of 218 prox.
One of the problem also is at setting I don't know what frequency I should use?
For instance there is all the options for LNB universal or standard etc..
Also I am not too sure about the setting of the reciever to recieve some Persian chanels.
My location is in Jupiter, Florida.
I would appriciate all the help that I can get to set up my reciever and Dish since I need all the help.
Regards
Farak

Hi:
There are many, many threads in the Installation Support forum dealing with your problem. The first thing you must decide is what satellite carries the channels you want to get; I suggest T5 - PNN Persian News Network is free on there; here's a link...
http://www.lyngsat.com/ia5.shtml
Anything in yellow is free-to-air; the parameters are given for each channel so you can enter that data into your receiver. Have a look at lyngsat and then get back to us -- we'll offer you more support.
:wink:

telstar5
Hi Kat,
I am trying to connect to telstar5 97 W.
I input all the frequencies that I found in lyngsat, For instance Freq. 11836 V, SR -fec 20765 or Freq 11867 V, SR - fec 22000. and so on.
when I am trying to scan I use satellite scan power scan Vertical and horizantal, but as I mentioned before:
1st I am not sure about the LNB setting for Telstar 5, is it standard, universal 1 or 2 etc.
2nd 22 MHZ on or off? LNB power on or off? etc...
3rd When I am trying to get the signal I should be in what mode? Power scan? or run thestelite scan all the time.
4th I have no sound in my TV. Other people tell me that it beeps, but I have no sound.
Please help me out, awaiting for your respond.
Best regards

Before you can do the scan, you must be "locked" onto the satellite on the "antenna setup" screen. Navigate to Antenna Setup. Pick T5 satellite.
You will switch to right side of screen. STAY ON THAT SCREEN while adjusting the dish pointing. At the top will be Signal Level, and below that Signal QUALITY. That is the important indicator. It MUST have a green bar that shows some signal.
Now, the next one down is the LNB type. If you bought from Sadoun, you most likely have the Fortec Universal-1 LNB. For that, you use the right arrow and select "Universal 1". Go DOWN arrow to next input field, and select these values like this grahpic, but use these values:
22khz = OFF
DISEQC = OFF
LNB power = ON
TP = from your list above - an ACTIVE transponder!
Positon setting = OFF
Satellite Scan = FTA
But DONT run the scan! Just stay on this screen, leave the cursor on FTA and adjust the dish until you get some green "quality" signal level. Once you do, THEN and ONLY then run the FTA scan to see what channels the box finds.
Hope this helps...

Telstar5
Thank you pmb1010,
I followed your instruction for the setting and I was abel to get up to 78% TP level but still Quality 0%.
At this moment I am set at Azumith 120 Approx. Plorization +30 and Elevation 55 degree. My location is Jupiter florida (90 miles north of Miami)
These values I've got from the sadoun site. I bought all my equipment from Sadoun, Reciever and Dish 90cm.
I have no sound in my TV when is connected to satelite. Is it correct or there is something wrong?
Could some one please tell me how to get quality?
Are my values are right?
I appriciate all the helps since I bought the satelite 3 weeks ago and still no picture.
Best regards

Farak:
Your azimuth doesn't look right. From the caculator site, the numbers for Miami are:
Elevation = 54.5 degrees
Azimuth = 214.8 +2 Magnetic adjustment = 217 degrees
Skew / Tilt = 31
So tilt the LNB like the picture on the website (counterclockwise) to about what the picture shows. Set the dish's elevation scale to 55.
Get a compass, and stand in your yard and line it up North and South. Find out where 217 degrees is, and that's where your dish's LNB arm should point. if you stand where your dish is, and look south (180 degrees), 217 is to your right.
Hope this helps...

:lol:
Thank you all, Finally I've got some quality and right now I am viewing quite a few chanels, I am getting almost 95% of all Persian chanels.
The quality that I get is average 45%, It is very hard to get 90%. I've got it few times but it is not stable and goes down to 10% and stay there.
What is the quality norm that I should get?
I think I should get alot more chanel than 60 or 70 chanel.
All your help is greatly appriciated.
Thank you all

There really is no "normal" quality level; its varies depending on many factors including dish size, atmospheric conditions, transponder power level, etc. If you get 45% that's more than enough. The quality level has no bearing on how many channels you get - make sure you have programmed in all the active transponders. See lyngesat for more info...
