my FS-I motorized ULTRA installation
I took a 9" portable TV as a 'signal meter' and my ULTRA up with me on the roof. I used SatMex 5 to begin USALS then added T5 (IA5?) and Galaxy 10R so far. It went flawlessly but when I hooked everything up to my living room set I can't get all the channels, I think I had 'em all when I was puting it up. For example on the Intelsat Americas 5 I can't get anything on transponder 27 (12177V). Any sugessions would be appreciated.
Thanks

ULTRA DiSEqC setting
Hi again,
Under the ULTRA's satellite submenu the choices are: Tone A, Tone B, #1, #2, #3, #4, OFF.
Should I set it to "OFF"? I have an H-H 100 (USALS) motor.
Also I am thinking of restoring the factory settings and starting over. Will that return it to the "out of the box" settings? Anybody with ULTRA expertise plese help! Thanks again.

If on T5 (IA5) you are not getting signal and quality on the 12,177 MHz transponder, make sure the symbol rate and polarity are set correctly in the receiver; 23,000 SR and VER polarity.
---> http://www.lyngsat.com/ia5.shtml
Performing a master reset will restore everything to factory default settings and you will lose all your USALS settings. I'm not familiar with the Ultra but look for a DiSEqC 1.2 or 1.3 (USALS) setting for the LNB.

These are choices for a DiSEqC switch and not for a DiSEqC motor. When you use a DiSEqC switch use #1,2,3,4 to correspond to the input ports dishes (lnbfs) connected to.
When you do a factory reset, your receiver will go back to the out of box settings. In this receiver, you will be OK.
CAUTION: In some other models/brands if you do a factory reset, your receiver will default back to PAL tv output. That will make your screen turn black and white and rolling.

It is recommended that you do a factory reset BEFORE and AFTER you do a f/w upgrade.

Ultra f/w 2.29 Transfer Procedure
Jamal,
Thanks for your help.
I downloaded the Fortec STB uploader and the new firmware v2.29 file to my PC.
How do I transfer it to my Ultra? On the Uploader I put STB model:Lifetime, BIN file:C:...Ultra
What do I put for File type: Flash Rom File, Channel Data File, or Boot file? (My guess is "Boot File"). Also the "Upload" button is not enabled.
On the Ultra do I select SW Code on the S/W Transfer submenu? and push the CH up on the receiver? then what?
Sorry for so many questions.
Thanks.

I just did a satellite scan for SatMex 5. It only "found" 7 channels (5 TV and 2 radio). I used TP 19 12080 to do the scan. According to LyngSat there are supposed to be 39 channels in the clear on this satellite.
How do I get the others?

Some of these channels are on C-Band which requires a big 8-10' dish.

I did the firmware update.
When scaning satellite T5 I still don't get any channels on tp 27. In the receiver's TP list, it has the correct down freq (12177Mhz), symbol rate (23.000Msps) and polarity (vertical); same as that from Lyngsat. In the antenna setup submenu I get '0' quality from that TP; why? What should I do? Any help greatly appreciated. (I need my TGN!)
Thanks.

Just for fun I hooked up my old Arion AF-1500E FTA receiver to my new Fortec dish setup... works great (even without any s/w upgrades): 82 TV and 54 radio stations on T5, including Thai Global Network. :?: :? What's wrong with my Ultra?

I decided to replace the cables. Went to Home Depot, had them cut me two lenghts of RG-6 (about 70 ft each). Did two separate uninterrupted lines to the receiver. One from the LNB and one from my terrestrial antenna. My existing setup had a diplexer and combiner arrangement that used only one cable into the house. It was for both the satellite and my UHF antenna. It was part of my original install, done by a local installer. Anyway I think that is what was giving me trouble with my new system setup.
The roof mount on my AC is working fine. We had some strong winds the other night, I was concerned, but it didn't budge. I don't think there is any vibration from the AC either. It does't affect the signal anyway. So for now I think it is OK.
Once you get it plum and true south located it really is a snap with that motor. All trouble shooting should begin with checking the mount with a level. I think a small level is better than the Johnson angle locator. (I used a 10" Huskey magnetic torpedo level).
I am very pleased. I even get that AC3 dolby audio for the PBS stations on AMC-3.
