PAS-8 - Ku-Band Coverage

I am trying to figure out where to point my dish. According to PanAm, I am within the foot print. Where would at 166.0°E be for me if I am 118.6W 34.2N, Any ideas?

166E

Well looking at my handy 16" Replogle Globe 166 deg E is just SW of the Marshall Islands near Tarawa (for you WWII buffs). Does that help?

How do you make the 'degree' symbol?

I reckon your dish ain't big enough. You need a dish nearly 140 cm in diameter.

Re: PAS-8 - Ku-Band Coverage

It will be a very difficult task since the signal is so weak. None of the folks I know in N.California has luck with this bird. Just for fun, I spent half a day to aim my fixe 5.3ft. No luck. The dish elevation is very low, which is 5 degs for me. At this kind of low elevation, the dish pick up lot of noise from the ground as well. Pas2 Ku also has some transponder beamed to the US as well. You might try it first since the elevation is a bit higher than the Pas8.

Another trick for degree symbol is, if you ar using windows, hold alt key and with your numeric keypad (on the right hand side) enter 248. "°"
