Southernmost Sat?

Lat=42.33
Long= 89.03

Just west of Chicago.....

Using 36" dish/ 100 HH/ Ultra.......I bought the package....

I only need to know what is my 'southernmost' sat.......to find, set, and use for the peak of my arc?...and it's location? (azimuth?)....thanks......

Maybe I should just ask, where is my most strategic sat to adjust to, as a starting place??..

..I hope that ain't confusing....LOL!

Your Southern most satellite is the satellite located at the same longitude as your location. See satellites list here: http://www.lyngsat.com/america.shtml

Thanks again.........Now to talk some neighbors into cutting down some trees.........LOL!

BTW.......sidenote......how far will this HH100 swing? My magnetic south is 179......I can't remember where I saw that info.
Doesn't really matter, just want to know..........

BenDare2. I am in Chicago area too (near Schaumburg) and I use AMC3 as my closest to "true south" satellite. Telstar 4 used to be our true south satellite at 89 degrees, but it was fried last year.

I have SG2100 and a 31" dish and I can go as far east as Hispasat and as far west as Telstar 7 (maybe even further buth not much on Ku past that point).

Have fun.

Re: The hand up is appreciated........

AMC3 is not really your truesouth. The truesouth sat is whatever sat located at your Long which is 89W. Since there is no sat at 89W, you can use either AMC3 at 87 or G11R at 91 as your starting point. Setting up h-h mount and dish elevation correctly, then use USALS to move the dish to either sat, tune the dish to get lock, then use USALS to program other sat position. Talking about azimuth, it's not the same for all location where you live since the magnetic deviation is different from one location to others.
Azimuth for true south = 180 +/- magnetic deviation.

RE.........

......I am at 89 long.......

So I will manually set the system at '179'(magnetic south)/ proper lat on the motor/ correct 'P' on the dish, and let usals find amc3......then manually 'peak' the signal with the dish(only) elevation?
....... the arc should be right, because I'll be pointed at the old telstar5 @ 89* to start....my southernmost point, even if there is no working sat there.

Thanks.....I'll be back.......Ol'Ben
