can I get a dish or not

Hello,
I live in Boston,MA zip 01801 in an appartment. I have a balcony facing northwest (mostly west). I would like to get a dish for arabic chanels (sat TelStar5 and Galaxy10) . I am really confused about all the calculations. Would you be able to tell me if I'm facing the right direction?
I think I am but want to make sure before I buy.
Thanks
Emad

I'd say you have a pretty good chance; from Boston you would point west-south-west. Check out Sadoun's groovy angle calculator (somewhere in the installation section of the site) and get a compass and try some readings. Just watch out for the metal railings on your balcony - they do wicked things to your compass !!!

Both are kind of southwest from. Is the balcony open on it’s south end if so and you have no obstruction with in60 feet of the satellite location you should be fine. You might want to check out acusat.com, they have a demo software that figures this stuff for you. That is what I did for you...
