HELP: Problem with reception of TPs on 11900Ghz or below.

Hi All,

I just realized that my Fortec Lifetime receiver is not picking up any TPs using frequency of 11900GHz (?) and below.

Everything above 11900 seems fine - with quality of 70-90%.

For example:
on T5@97West:
I'm picking up all TPs from Tp11@11929 through Tp27@12177 without any problems,
but I'm getting no signal (0%) on all TPs starting at Tp9@11898 going down to Tp5@11836

Similar problem with all other satelites.

My setup is: Fortec Star Lifetime, with 36in Dish and ASC321 LNBF (LNBF should support IN Freq of LB: 10.70~11.70 GHz and HB: 11.70~12.75 GHz).

Any ideas ?

Thanks,
r.g.

Do you have your lnbf settings for Universal, and the LO frequencies set to 10600 and 09750?

yes & no:
it's set to Universal 2, but LO Freq: 9750/10750
When I change it to Universal 1 w/ LO 9750/10600 then I can't receive any signal (sig. quality of 0-15% on all freqs).

Any other ideas ?

Just please, don't tell me that I have a bad LNBF ...

It sounds like it's sticking in the upper part of the frequency band for some reason.
I'm not overly familiar with the lnbf types , but , there should also be an option for the 22khz settings. Most I have seen before use 10600/9750 with 22khz set to auto for the universal type.

If this isn't the problem maybe someone can enlighten both of us.

Send a message via AIM to DruzeTito
It might mean that you are not pointed to the sat correctly

Are you using an off-brand LNBF? It could be defective.

Your LNBF is a universal type. You should use Universal1 for LNBF type not Universal2.

Try this:
1- Do a factory reset (factory settings) on your receiver
2- Assuming your dish is aligned perfectly, check the signal/quality again using Universal1 settings (default).
3- Change LNBFs and check again.

Good luck.

Hmm, I started playing with different LNBF setting last night and so I tried setting of "Standard" with LO of 10750 (default was 10600), initiated scan of T5 and BINGO... got all TPs as advertised on LyngSat

So, in the end, it seems that Universal LNBF that I got from non-Sadoun web site was far from it...

and.., with setting of Universal 2 (9750/10750) I was getting all sats starting at 10900GHz and up.... where as with setting of Standard (10750) I seem to be getting full range of FTA channels.

Thanks All for your help & suggestions.

Cheers,
robert.

bobkat has a spectacular aura aboutbobkat has a spectacular aura about
LNBs are not always marked for L.O. frequency; sometimes its difficult to tell. That's why 4 out of 5 installers recommend Bell ExpressVu linear LNBs - they are always standard -- no guessing games.
