Analog Ku Band Slaved & Working

Since I've gotten only my feet wet in this fun hobby I'm finding the need for more and more adventure (i.e. feeds and programming).
With my DVB all setup and perfectly fixed on the arc, after 2 grooling weeks of trial and error, I had remembered something.....
I had an old analog Ku receiver sitting around in the garage waiting for just this day.
So, using the lnb output of my Satworks receiver, I attached a cable from it to my analog rx. I then setup the Satworks so that I can use the remote to move the dish east to west to "sweep" the skies.
Then, it appeared.....a faint analog signal of a basketball game. Some gently moves of the dish and adjusting of the analog and BAM! A beauty of a signal with only a few sparklies. A feed from FOX SportsNet.
Well, after a whole day of playing around I went a step further and tried to use this analog rx to locate AMC5 and AMC9 which I had not been able to do with the DVB. After some gentle sweeping a finally located the AMC9 test card - I was really excited to see "AMC9 XPN K19" scrolling upward on top of the color bar test pattern. I then went back to the DVB and locked the location - did a 'blind search' and found one digital active channel for "NBC News - AMC9 - 2F". Located AMC5 the same way and also locked it in on the digital rx and blind search pulled the NY Network, OTB, etc...
This is awesome and since I just ordered the 120cm dish I can just imagine what I'll now find. Plus I want to get a C Band LNB and really find some catches.

Anyways, the lesson here is if you are enjoying your DVB but hunger for some more fun then pickup an old used analog to slave to your DVB.
It's fun to see what's out there.

FYI, hot sats for analog feeds at weekend:
SBS6, AMC9, G11R, G3C. All kind of college sports feeds.
Make sure the analog does not send out voltage to the Satworks. You can always use a DC blocker between analog and DVB. Radio Shack has them.

I'm not really a sports nut. I like catching news feeds.
I heard that sometimes they have shows and stuff but haven't caught any yet.

Thanks for advising about the DC. I'll check it with a volt meter.
This unit has 2 pieces, one the receiver and the second piece is for turning the antenna. I'm only using the receiver so maybe the 2nd piece is what produces the current??
