Fortec Lifetime: Binding a circular LNB to the linear LNB

I tried to bind a DBS circular LNB to the Fortec linear LNB (side by side) like Sadoun did in his sample installation (http://www.sadoun.com/images/Install...icture_035.jpg). I used no switch. I tried all possible positions. I couldn't get a quality bar from the DBS circular LNB.

The only place of the circular LNB that gave me a quality bar is directly in front of the linear LNB.

Any suggestions to make the two LNB work side by side?

The system I'm using is the Fortec Lifetime system including receiver, dish and linear LNB. The circular LNB is a RCA DBS LNB bought from Bestbuy.

Re: Fortec Lifetime: Binding a circular LNB to the linear LN

1. Make sure you set the LO for circular as 11250
2. Look like your dish is fixed. Where does it aims at? For the fixed dish, if you mount the circular lnbf next to the linear, expect it to hit the a sat a 4 degs apart from the linear. East or West sat depends on what side you mount the circular.
Exampble:
Let say your dish aims at T5, standing behind the dish, if the circular mounted on the right side of the linear, it will hit either at T6 or Nimiq1
If the circular mounted at the left side of the linear, it will hit either AMC4 or AMC1.
If the circular lnbf hit a linear Ku sat, you won't get lock at all.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I set the LO correctly. I can verify that since I get over 90% quality bar with the circular LNB mounted at the LNB bracket.

I use a SG2100 rotor. I just tried to mimic Sadoun's sample installation with SG2100 and Fortec Lifetime.

I wanted to get music channels on Nimq1 with the circular LNB.

If I use the Fortec LNB only, I can get all FTA programs on all viewable satllites. If I use the DBS circular LNB only, I can get music channels on Nimq1. So they all work well.

The problem is how to make both of them work side by side (of course not at the same time). I know how to use a switch. I don't know how to tackle the angle offset problem.

I think what you said about the angle offset is totally true. When my dish points to Nimq1, I can get a quality bar only when I put the DBS LNB directly in front of the linear LNB on the bracket.

One solution may be like this: I will change the longitude of Nimq1 stored in my Fortec receiver to compensate the 4 degree angle offset. So the dish won't point to Nimq1 but the Circular LNB will point to Nimq1.

Will that work?

Use Diseqc 1.2 to manual move to peak the signal on the particular DBS sat you want to receive, then store the position.

Thanks, DruzeTito. Your method works.

But after I did a factory reset on my receiver, dowloaded the February 2004 transponder list, and re-scanned all transponders on Nimq1, my Fortec Lifetime receiver only found 11 radio channels on Nimq1. Galaxie 25, 26, 27, etc. could not be found. Galaxie 31 could be found. It is strange. When I only used the DBS LNB and used USAL, my receiver could find all the radio channels on Nimq1.

I guess I'm missing something here. Any suggestions? Thanks

2 LNB holder

I have never seen a 2 LNB holder on Sadoun's online store, but there is one here on this German website, 9.90 EUR so, about 12.50 USD.

http://www.dewi-sat.de/produktinfo/A...9qpShUeLA.html

Sadoun: I hope this post does not violate your rules...I would not post it if I knew you sell a product like this one. This German company has a lot of good parts, maybee you could be a distributor for them?

See, since your circular lnb is offset, using USALS will actually point your MAIN lnb to that particular satellite. What I do is USALS it to the sat, then depending on your lnb if its to the right of the linear lnb or the left, you manually move with diseqc 1.2 to locate the signal, peak it, and lock. Many many times its not the right satellite because many of the circular sat companies like Dishnet and Nimiq have the same transponder freqs on the x amount of satellites they have so make sure by checking to see if the proper channels/audio are downloaded.
