footprints

You should look for your location in the footprint. 30 inch for Winnipeg seems to be small. You should be able to pick up a signal from T5 but don't be disappointed if the quality reading is below 50%. If you want better signal, try a 1 meter dish. It should do it.

etlam34 is right; a 30" dish may be too small for Winnipeg.

Yes; the lower the reading the larger the dish required; you just follow the lines through your location and see what reading it falls into; if it is in the higher number circle than a smaller dish is OK; but as you move away from the center of the footprint the signal gets weaker.

Footprint

Winnipeg is located between the 46 DB and 44 DB Line.

46 DB = 76 cm dish antenna
44 DB = 1 Meter Dish Antenna

So I recommend you use a 1 meter antenna or bigger. You will be able to get signal from T5 with a 30 inch dish but weak transponders won't response. You'll have quality readings of ~ 40 % or less. I'm in Quebec City and the footprints here is 46 db. I have a 30 inch old round star choice dish with non-stacked flashlight type LNB. I get 76% signal strength and the Quality start from 25% on weak transponders and goes to a maximum of 70% on very high powered transponders (12152 H and 11749 V).
