Automatic software and firmware notification?
To Sadoun Admin.
I am getting my Lifetime Ultra next week, would Sadoun notify me automatically if the next software and firmware are available for uploading, or I need to check with Sadoun from time to time. Thanks |

Hi
No we don't send any notifications when manufacturers issue new f/w updates. For Fortec Star you can visit their website at www.fortecstar.com and check the download section for the latest updated.

Date of F/W updates
How do I know for sure if the updates are new, and released after my receiver's manufacturing date, do they dated all f/w updates.
So, if I found the release date is after the manufacturing date, I should upload it to my receiver? Thanks |

Downloading Software
I just received my Lifetime Ultra and I understyand that it came with the latest software installed. I went into the Fortec webpage to see what was available and just play around, and I noticed that if I want to download software it will ask me for a BIN and CBT (?) part number. what are the correct numbers for the Lifetiem Ultra? Thanks.

It might not be happy with 95/98. |

A null modem cable won't work. You need a straight through cable. Or a regular cable with a gender changer (not a null adapter). I would really recommend testing you cable using the channel editor program to download (upload) channel data FROM the receiver, rather than starting with software uploads, because you can't hurt anything taking data FROM the receiver, and it will show whether your cable is functional. Unfortuately, the editor program is a bit flakey with Win98, although it does work. |

Twinhan Starbox I
I have already learned a lot about FTAs by testing them. Now I am interested in learning about the testing of Twinhan Starbox I which I just got. I would like to know if there is anyone testing this little box with a laptop and would not mind giving me a few pointers.
Thanks |

I'd like to ask a favor, however. Could you tell me what the power module for the Starbox looks like? Ie what is written on it? Ie brand, voltage, polarity? The Starbox itself doesn't say what is required, and I've somehow misplaced the darn power module. I have about 30 or so of these wall wart things, and can't figure out which one goes with the Starbox. I haven't used the Starbox for about 9 months, but recently came up with a potential use, and would like to hook it up again. What I remember about it though, when I was using it, is that it is the least sensitive of all the receivers I have. Ie you need a pretty strong signal for it to work. The software that comes with it though is not very user friendly. I ended up getting MyTheatre and ProgDVB, both of which were better, but I can't remember which one I preferred. I was REALLY hoping that Rod would make a source for this receiver for TSREADER, as that is the program I use most of the time for my other Twinhan receiver and my Broadlogic, however apparently this is not going to happen.
