Re: Freq on G4R

Currently, there are no FTA DVB channels on this bird. If you are still interested in getting lock on G4R, you can use the "DirectWay" transponders to tune the dish. The receiver won't scan anything in since these transponers are data (internet)

Michael, I got some PBS channels from AMC3, the picture was OK but there was no sound. Is there anyway I can get sound from these channels? They are on 12110 H

PBS channels on AMC3 use AC3 format. You need a receiver which is AC3
compatible to output the AC3 stream, then use an AC3 receiver/ decoder to decode it. Fortec Lifetime and Ultra can output the AC3 stream.

Michael, i asssume that the ac3 audio was not decoded by the receiver, but the signals are still passed to the TV, right? So if the TV has ac3 decoder, then sound should come out, true?

That's correct. The receiver output the raw AC3 stream. If your TV has AC3 decoder built-in, you are all set.
