Re: CANNOT FIND SIGNAL

We need more info.
Your receiver brand
Lnbf type (universal or standard)
What satellite are you trying to aim your dish at?
Did you check the LO setting?
Did you use active transponder to tune the dish?
Last, if possible, please turn off the Caps Lock key.
Check out the link below for basic understand of how to install a fix dish.

Ok here it goes. I have done all the above... I have a BIRDOG. It works great. I have installed DTV single through triple lnb dishes with great sucess. I have sucessfuly locked on to dish 110,119. Expresvu with the
BIRDOG all showing max in both signal and quality... For the life of me I
can not bring in TELSTAR 5 well let put it this way the BIRDOG never says
found but has high signal stergnth when trying to get Telstar5 I have input the transponders sometimes I get 10 chanels ethnic Arab, Assyrian etc.
just 10 chanels. so I go back to trying to dial it in again and I lose the chanels and get another set sometimes not the FTA chanels, chanels that
are scrambled. then I do it again and the ethnic chanels come back but some that where there before are not. there should be at least 60 FTA on
telstar 5. WHAT am I doing wrong. I have fifteen orders for ethnic programing and I do not have my **it together on this.

ALSO DISHNETWORK ethnic programing 61,121,148 I can not dial these in.. I live in the central valley of northern cal. clear view of southern sky.

I have a wiengard 30" , toroidal t55, and 18's and 24" dish. I have been using standard lnbs. I have tried them all, they work fine. But for getting the TELstar5 and DISHNET ethnics I am at a loss....

Please any help would be greatly appricated ..ARAM

Re: INFORMATION

Circular signal (DishNet/Bev) is much stronger than linear (Telstar5...), therefore finding T5 is a bit harder than DN/Bev. If you can get Arabic channels, your dish is aiming at T5 but need a little bit further allignment. Make sure you set the skew correctly since it is importand for linear signal.

My BirDog finds T5 every day of the week - twice on Sundays... and Toronto is not in the max EIRP area for this bird. The BirDog is flawless - it cannot be blamed. I suggest that you experiment with the LNB rotation and focal distance because as Michael says, and I agree, your alignment is slightly off. Keep practicing... The Dog will say "Found" and give that juicy BEEP sound that is music to my ears...

I am having trouble recieving a good quality signal form the universal LNBF, I have tried it Telstar 5 and Galaxy 10 and in both cases I am getting a signal, on Telstar it goes to 61% and on Galaxy it goes to 73% but it does not go all the way over and hence I do not get a quality indicator.
The funny thing is that these numeric values do not change regardless of wether I pan the antenna in a completely opposite direction. need help. I am using the Fortec Star DVB-786V3 coupled with the FC-75 antenna and a universal LNBF (FSKU-v). My zip is 11420 and I am using these co-ordinates for the Telstar 5 sat, Azimuth-227: Elevation-37.3 and Skew-24.6 and for Galaxy 10 Azimuth-254.7: elevation-21.6 and a shew of 41.4. I am using the recommende RG6 coax, could you explain in layman terms skew calculation in terms of it's postion on a clock.

Skew is the rotation of the LNB -- 0 degrees skew would be with the LNB perfectly vertical in the cradle - this would equate to 12 o'clock or 6 o'clock depending on the type of LNB you are using. A positive skew is counter-clockwise -- so if for example your LNB is at 6 o'clock for zero skew then a +18 skew would put the LNB tilt (skew) at around 5:30 o'clock - referenced from facing the front of the dish.

Don't touch the settings for Antenna 1 (keep it at default values). I recommedn you do a factory reset and start over.

Make sure you select a LIVE TP when you are in the CHANNEL SEARCH menu on your 786v3 receiver.

For example:

for T5 use TP 26
for G10R use TP 6 or 7

Good luck.

Try updating your BIRDOG satellite data. Make sure you are using a standard LNBF when you use the BIRDOG to aim your dish at T5. Nothing less than 30" dish will bring in T5.

Cannot Find Signal

I did as was suggested and performed a reset of the system but I am still unable to observe any changes. My signal level goes to achieves different levels, according to what satellite is selected from the menu. Also with the antenna dish removed and the LNBF connected I am still getting the same signal levels as if the dish was connected.
