using HH100 rotor with multiswitch

We are having a problem controlling an HH100 rotor when the signal passes through a multiswitch. Our original setup worked and consisted of a dual LNB on a 90cm dish, HH100 rotor, Perfect Vision 3x8 multiswitch and a BEC DBS-2000.

We also have a VisionPlus PCI card for a PC, but we are not using it to rotate the dish. We do need the multiswitch as we need the capability of using more than 2 receivers.

This setup worked fine and I had 6 different satellites located and stored in the HH100. First I experimented with the inline amplifiers and placed them near the dish, but not between the LNB and HH100. They blocked the control signals to the motor so the dish would not move. They also didn't help the signal strength or quality much, so I removed them.

We have a long cable run that goes about 3 stories down an elevator shaft, so we purchased the powered version of the 3x8 multiswitch. Ever since I plugged in the power to the multiswitch, the motor will not operate. I have bypassed the multiswitch and everything works fine, except we are limited to 2 receivers.

Is there compatibility problems with the multiswitches and DiSEqC rotors? Should we purchase a special multiswitch to make sure the motor works with the multiswitch? Any idea why the motor and multiswitch worked fine together until the multiswitch was plugged in (powered) and now the motor will not work if the multiswitch is connected? If a powered multiswitch is used, should the LNB power on the amplifiers be turned off?

Thanks,
Dave

Re: using HH100 rotor with multiswitch

1. Any switches being used with h-h mount must be installed between lnbf(s) and h-h mount.
2. In your case, you DON'T need to use the 3x8 switch since your lnbf is dual. Remove the switch. Use the BEC 2000 to move the dish. Run another cable from the second output of the lnbf to your PCI DVB card.
I will try to write a FAQ for DVB when I have time...:-) (don't mean to offend you...:-) )

Michael,

Thanks for your quick response. We DO NEED the multiswitch, even though I am only using 2 receivers now, the end goal is to use more than two.

I don't understand is why HH100 motor worked fine for a month with the switch between the BEC 2000 and the HH100.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
Your situation is the same as GaryZheng. Read the thread "multiple receivers to drive one dish on HH mount?" to see my advice.
Regards,
Michael
