How to get multiple sats on one dish

    Hiya folks,

Did a bit of experimenting with those mult-LNB holders to see how they work, and I was able to get a 14 degree spread on the bracket. The center LNB was aimed at 83W to get RTV and TuffTV, and the LNB to the left was adjusted to get 97W which has loads of FTA channels.

While moving the LNB on the left, I was able to get 95W, 93W and 87W so it is possible to get multiple sats on the same dish. You would also need a DiSEqC Switch to handle multiple LNB's though.

My next project is to see if I can receive Hispasat 30W and Telstar 15W on the same dish. Check out the pic of the LNB holder adjusted for 97/83W.

Very good. I am glad you are able to get good signal for both satelites.

    What brand dish you have?
    Size?
Can you post a picture for the dish itself?

Wow sponge I didn't think you could get much separation on an offset dish and a 36". I thought that dish had only one focal point. Do you think it could have two LNB's pick up the same satellite. My dish is motorized and use a QPH-031 which is standard I would like to keep that but also would like to have a universal at the same position for satellites that have a lower freq. I think I may tinker a bit. I do have a universal spare and duct tape haha.

    Jim-S,

Evidently there are more focal points. I just finished experimenting with the same dish but 3 with LNBs, set at 89, 95, and 97W. Setting the center one is easy, but adding the others and getting them just right requires a steady hand and patience. See the picture. These are 3 universal lnb's. My goal is to get Hispasat (30W) and Telstar (15W) from the same dish. That's a 15 degree difference and these birds are pretty low in the sky.

A universal LNB is needed for sats that have transponders at frequencies below what the standard LNB range is.

Here some examples: Intelsat 14 at 45W has RASD TV from Western Sahara - 11608/h/1858. Their programming is not 24/7 as of this writing. A test pattern appears in the late evenings here on the East Coast.
Intelsat 1R at 50W has TBN from Costa Rica - 11050/v/2790
    Intelsat 707 at 53 W has Canal 27 from Guatemala - 11633/h/3110

And there are additional live transponders that you'll pick up on these birds that are below 11.7 megs but there is no programming at present.

As for getting two LNBs working for the same sat from one dish, that's a great idea to try Jim-S. Let us know how you make out.

Sponge.......some of those sat's footprints don't show N. America it will be interesting to see if you can get them......
One of your LNB's looks like it is blocking the one next to it.
It will be a little while before I can try something I did swap out my QPH-031 for a universal tried the sat's in the east but couldn't get anything beyond 61W. I know I can see 58W but nothing there now, got Cuba there in the past.
