    No signal at all

I installed as directions, but I don't see any signal on screen. Question is, If I put the dish (let say close to the suppose-to-be position) close enough, I should see some signal, right? But I saw None. Could it be bad receiver?

Later that day, I went out to buy SatAlign 2(signal strength finder) plug it in between LNB and receiver. It didn't show any light. Was it supposed to light even if I plug in only the receiver side? It didn't have any light on? I could only think that Could it be receiver problem?

    anyone can explain..

    Matt

No probably not (well 99 percent) sure it's not lnb or receiver.
Everybody thinks that when they start.

These are very touchty to setup. You must follow the install instructions to a T - and be very patient. The spot you are trying to find is the size of a golf ball at 50 yards. 1/8" will lose the signal.

It is NOT like setting up a Dish network or Direct TV dish. Those when you get close you get some signal. These things are you have to be pretty much right on the right spot to get signal quality level.

Do a bit more reading, especially the install forums. Lots of similar posts on what to do to setup.

Good luck - let us know how you make out. Lots of guys here can help.

Fortec Star PLATINUM CI Digital Satellite Receiver
    FS80P 31" Fortec
ULN2: Sadoun UNIVERSAL Linear DUAL Ku 0.4 dB LNBF
    Live in Gardena, CA

I have leveled the post, and set the dish to 132 degree from North, and elevation about 45 degree. still no signal (0%)
    -------------------------------------------------

ps: with a Sat Signal Finder, Do I have to connect the LNB side to get it working? I tried to connect it both side but, it didn't have the light on. I want to eliminate problems one by one.

try changing the elevation on the dish up or down by 5 degrees these Fortec dishes have been known to be off that much on the scale.

    Tried Sat Finder...

I have tried every angles I could to try to get the signal, still no success.
Question now is, Is the Signal Finder supposed to make sound when you connect it from the Sat Receiver (just one side)? It doesn't do that when I connect it. How can I check if the receiver gives any power out to the Sat Finder or LNB?

Anyone who has Sat finder, please help me.

You are doing everything right, from the pics you show. The only thing might be the scale on the dish, sometimes that edge/bolt thing does now show the right value. Sometimes you need to go up to 50 or down to 40 to find the sat...

did you take your receiver out next to your dish, hooked up with very short cables and a small tv?

It's impossible to aim the dish without watching the quality/lock signal level while you move the dish in very small increments.

    Please answer me..

Can you answer me this question? I never had a signal finder. Is it supposed to make any sound when you connect it to the receiver? If it is, then my receiver has a problem, right?

    thanks

Always used the recievers indicator bar as my signal meter.
