Unhappy HH90 Reliability Issues

Hi my wife bought a setup from you guys. I installed it as per your instructions. It was hell, but it worked.

Had 1 original issue that the motor would offsetup itself a couple of degrees over time. at one point offset 6 degrees another 8 degrees. this would cause us to lose signal.

Now the darn thing does not move at all, just sits there at a little off true south setting. This is known by physically looking at it.

So I have been going all over to find out what is issues. My wife even wrote to you guys but received no reply. I don't know where she wrote so for all I know it ended up in cyberspace.

I was on another website and someone refferred me to some instructions I had not seen before on your site. They mention 0 positioning. I tried that and nothing happened.

Basically software says it is moving, but physically the dish is not. The only thing that has occurred in between working and not was a small rain/wind storm that was well within the limits of specifications for this equipment. Is there somewhere on the Fortec Star Lifetime Classic NA for causing this blockage or is there something to reset on motor itself. Cable appeared fine and I doubt would corrode from 1 rainstorm.

Any suggestions of what to do?

Thanks,

Chuck

I would check the connections at motor first to make sure there is no water intrustion in the connector. then unplug receiver for a couple minutes and then see if it works receiver is like a computer and can lock up at times.

Like rainman said, most likely your connectors have a problem or cable. Try with a different cable.

Unhappy Thanks for replies...i was hoping otherwise

Thanks guys for advise....I was really hoping to avoid the cable issue, i mean 1 night it works and the next is kaput...wow what are the odds. But if that is what you suggest I guess I will be having alot of fun tonight re-running cable.

I will post results.

Before re-running cable, first try with a short cable between receiver and motor (take receiver close to dish and do the testing, if you can.)

9 times out of 10 its a faulty connector. Try using good quality compression seal connectors. Don't rely on the crappy connectors you get with premanufactured coax cables from Home Depot or Rat Shack.

Question well its not the cable unless i got another bad one

okay guys this is getting really silly...the darn thing worked and now does not...i tried the cable with a brand new one..no go...what next?

My suspects are motor and receiver now. Any thoughts on how to test them?

I am ready to pack it up...the wife is a complete and my life is worse than it ever was .... what a week to quit smoking

I've had 3 HH90 motors in the course of a year.

1st one DOA out of the box. Replaced by Sadoun.

2nd one died 363 days into warrenty (they based it on 1st purchase....) Sent to Sadoun, they took a look at it and declared it "bad". Would not do anything to help as it was considered out of warrenty. Sent it back to me (collect).

I contacted Stab manufacturer in Italy, as the warrenty on the paperwork with the motor said "2 years". They pointed me to Fortec Canada.

I sent the motor to Fortec Canada, they sent me a replacement. Nice Folks.

This one worked for a while, then not sure what happened either the dish got wind-blown out of alignment, or something went wrong as the dish will not tune.
Admittedly, I have not been up on the roof where it's installed to check/re-align - but this is not at my home, so it's not a high priority.

I'd have to say the HH90, at least for me - has a dismal track record.

Question Not a problem

I have no problem in returning to check up, but was curious if there are any tests i can run myself on motor or receiver to confirm which it is.
