Winegard 76cm dish and stab hh 90 motor

I recently purchased a stab hh 90 motor for my Winegard 76cm dish(ds2076), and have discovered a problem with the installation. My latitute is 41.3, meaning the dish should be set to an elevation of 38.6 deg.. The problem is, the rotor on the stab, when installed in the pole sleeve on the winegard, sticks out too high on the top of the sleeve (this is the stab that the rotor points down), making it impossible to adjust the dish elevation to more than about 20 deg.. In other words, the top of the rotor hits the back of the dish bracket.

Is there a solution to this or a modification that can be made to allow more adjustment in the elevation? I have e-mailed stab and they replied that they have no experience with this particualr dish. Their tech mentioned that they would get one of these dishes and try to provide a solution....but that may be weeks.

Any help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I haven't solved the problem yet, that's the eason for my post. Here is what I have done so far:

1. Without having the motor rotor mounted, and assembling the dish per the Winegard original instructions, I set the elevation of the dish to 38-40 degrees.
2. I measured the ACTUAL angle that is created between the pole sleeve and the back of the dish using a protractor. I had to lay a straight edge along the pole sleeve and project it out to where it intersects the lnb arm at the back of dish to prperly measure the angle. For 38-40 degrees of elevation, it appears an angle of about 16-20 degrees is needed.
3. I dissassembled the dish bracket, turned it upside down and installed the pole sleeve in the original position. This makes the elevation gauge useless, but affords additional movement at the top of the pole sleeve when the HH90 rotor is installed.
4. I measured the MAXIMUM angle I can achieve with the rotor in te pole sleeve...i.e., the top of the rotor is touching the back of the dish. It looks like its around 20 degrees.

Until field tested, I can't determine if this will give me the elevation I need, because the measurements I took were too close, and the method used was less than perfect.

I am hoping that others have run across this same issue and can provide some insight as to their solution. I really don't have a solution until I can catch a signal, only hopeful theory.

hi helpme
Are you sure about an elevation value of38.8 .It is true for stationary dish,
and is diferrent when you install a motor.Read the instruction that comes
with hh90 and check this link www.dvbresource.com. From my location
dish elevation should be set on23.3 -according to STAB.
Hope this help

Yeah, it should be 23.3.....if you are using a HH100 or HH120 motor. I am installing a HH90, for me it is 38.6, for you it is 38.3. Maybe you should check out the resources at sadoun.com under installation support....there is a calculator for both the HH100/HH120 and HH90 stab motors. I have also confirmed this elevation with stab directly.

Now, back to my issue. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts for this motor setup...I am sure SOMEBODY has purchased a stab HH90 motor for a winegard 76cm dish out there....

C'mon, guys....SOMEBODY must have run across this before. Winegard is only like the best known american antenna you can get; and stab is the developer of USALS. It seems some of you sat installers have bumped into an issue like this before.

I can't be the only one....

I agree, and..

I have the same exact setup using a PCI DVB card (Nexus-S), but I can't find any software to use with USALS .

Hi I have the very same situation except my motor is a GeoSatPro GS-120 which appears to be similar to that STAB. My area calls for the dish to elevate at around 24-degrees but it's physically impossible for the Winegard 76cm dish to go lower than 30-degrees due to a protruding bolt, but even when removing that bold it will only go down to 27-degrees. I am either going to ditch the dish or the motor but I'm looking for solutions.

The HH-motor and dish combos at the Sadoun website are really good. I need to upgrade to a Universal LNBF and I want a larger 100-cm dish and will probably do that and keep this dish for another television set.

But I'm still looking for solutions to this vexxing Winegard problem.

HH 90 deosn't work with Winegard antennas

:mozilla_cool:

Hi guys,

According to some retailers, HH 90 motor doesn't fit Winegard antennas. You should buy Fortec antennas.
