stab hh90 can this motor be mounted upside down ?
:mozilla_frown: been trying to install hh90 on a starchoice 76cm dish . it appears that the dish mounting sleeve is too close to the back of dish , limiting the proper elev. angle . my lat. 49.1n & long.123.1w according to angle calcs. it should be 37.5-38deg. i've tryed all attempts to make her fit in the position mentioned and shown thru manual and all pics. veiwed at various sites. at this setting my dish sits in an extemely diferent angle to already set and working stable dish, i have set up. i've seen on this home page , a dish installed with rotors tube in the facing upward position . will this work and what changes on the positioning, if anything? thanks for the great site , you guys seem to have "THE ADVICE" more than all others .

That would mess up the calculation. Instead of increasing the elevation when it supposed to, it would decrease it and you would get no signal on most satellites.

What picture are you talking about? All the stab motor pictures I have seen have the motor shaft pointing up.

You are right HH90 should have the motor shaft pointing downward. HH100 and HH120 have it pointing up.

Do you have a pic of what the mount looks like?
Can you put the dish on the mount up-side-down?
I did exactly this with my Primestar dish / SG2100 and it worked out great.
The only side effect is that the dish elevation scale is worthless... but who cares. You set the motor elevation, USALS to the TS sat (or zero it if you are so lucky), and dial in the dish elevation as needed.

Right now I'm recieverless so it isn't tracking anything - lol.
I had it on a smaller pole tracking 58w - 148w without issue when paired with my CoolSat. I sold the coolSat and I have a Pansat 3500s on the way. I needed polarotor control and the component output was a big plus.
When I set it up the first time, I set the motor elevation as per the instructions. I then setup the receiver with my lat/long info and USALSed to my TS sat. From there I set the azmuth by rotating the whole motor and dish as a single assembly and dialed in the the dish elevation until the the dish was peaked on the TS sat. From there it tracked the arc perfect and was dead on with USALS :mozilla_cool: .

No, I loved my CoolSat. Nothing at all wrong with it. I even managed to get AC3 audio working with the new firmware that CoolSat released to support the card reader (even though I didn't have the reader).
I went with the PanSat 3500s for two reasons:
#1 - I needed polarotor (skew) control now that I'm setting up a 5' BUD :mozilla_cool:
#2 - The Component video output was a BIG plus for my as my TV seems to HATE s-video.
The PanSat has better AC3 support than the CoolSat from what I've been reading. I don't think it's so much that it works better but rather that it will scan in the AC3 APIDs better than the CoolSat does. I was missing audio on ImaginAsian for quite a while until I went with the new firmware and was able to edit the APID in NDFEdit.
A weak point on the PanSat is the blind scan is slower and has been known to hand on some transponders.
I probaly should have kept my CoolSat. I have this sinking feeling that I'm going to miss it.
This is my new 'dish tree' (work in progress!):

well shawn , ya really seem to be the man. had to put rotor and 33in on hold for a few days more . work piled up . was close to getting the pipe mod, but the hick town that's near buy had no pipe in stock. now i just bought 2x coolsats. awaiting snail mail . was going to apply one to my neighbors 6ft. bud . now you leave me an impression that this won't work due to "skew issue". DAMN . was going to get him a 3500 , but he said cost wasn't issue. must be nice, eh . guess i missed that issue with my research of coolsat . well, maybe i'll get a new 3500 and move the bud to my yard . i'll be in touch , sooner or "later" . thanks again. :mozilla_foot: :mozilla_laughing:

It depends on the feedhorn / lnb(s). It could be just fine.
In my case I've got a C/Ku feedhorn that uses a rotor to switch polarity & fine tune the skew. Until my Norsats come in I just have an inexpensive voltage switched C-band LNBF on the dish for now.
They have voltage switched C-band LNBFs, like the one Sadoun sells. They work just like our Ku LNBs. They've said that they have a C/Ku combo LNBF coming - that'll be cool for all of us DVB fiends.
