Software for SM2DM12 motor to look for satellites.

Hi,

Is there any PC software to move the motor to look for sattelites? I use MyTheatre Console Positioner, but the signal strength does not update while adjusting. It is updated when exiting the Positioner only and it is very inconvenient.

I would like to use a separate program to turn the dish and, if possible, to see the signal strength as well.

I use TwinHan 1020A card to connect to the LNB/Motor.

Thanks.

Sadoun...won't answer us?

I have the same question, and am wondering why the Sadoun people won't answer... I have a Nexus-S PCI DVB card and a 76m dish, and just bought a HH90 rotor from Sadoun... but nowhere can I find any help, discussion, or instructions of any kind about how to use USALS or any other software to find the satellites.

USALS is supposed to make this very easy, yet the USALS and STAB makers have no info on using USALS with a PCI card. Are we being ignored???

I personally don't use my Twinhan card to drive the motor so I can't help you much there. I know when I did try, it was relatively easy to use Twhinhan provided software to USALS.

In your case with Nexus-S same should apply. Does Nexus-S provided software have ability do doit? If not you can always search around and see if there are any 3rd party plugins that do USALS for Nexus-S.

Deep breaths.....

When you say "finding satellites" what do you mean? There is a tremendous amount of info here and elsewhere online about how to align a dish for reception.

or, have you found your south satellite and need help tracking the arc to find the other satellites?
There is alot of help discussion on this board so once we know what step you are at I'm sure there will be alot more suggestions.

I mean finding satellites with a motor. It's relatively easy to find the southern satellite, but MyTHeatre doesn't support USALS (Saar just explained to me that he has no use for it) and one or two others do support it, but give no instructions on how to set it up. I've tried manually adding satellites to the sat lists/diseqc files (trees, ini's) and it doesn't move the motor at all.

Deep breaths...

I would advise Sadoun to either put a disclaimer on the Web site telling buyers not to buy these rotors for use for PC DVB cards, or else offer some sort of support for using USALS with DVB cards (aside from Twinhan cards, apparently).

As for plugins, the only ones I've found work only with one card, the Skystar II.

Ok, i understand a little better now. It is odd that your PCI card doesnt support USALS. USALS is sometimes referred to as Diceqc 1.3 in some poorly written manuals. Is there a reference to this?

I think your frustration is better directed toward Hauppauge and not Sadoun. A quick look at Hauppauge's website shows software update links that are expired. That, and releasing a product without USALS support kind of sucks. There are at least a dozen computer based DVB recievers on the market and they do support USALS, so the Nexus seems to be the odd one out, and the one that should include a disclaimer about motor incompatability.

Sorry I can't be more help, hopefully there is a 3rd party solution somewhere.
