HH90

I recently installed a Stab HH90 motor. Prior to the installation, I had a generic 76cm dish with a Fortec Lifetime Ultra with standard LNB, and I was getting over 100 channels on IA5. After I installed the motor, I only was able to get about 20 channels on IA5. I ordered and installed an 80cm Fortec dish with Fortec Universal LNB still with the same problem.
my coordinates are N26 W80.2, I set the motor elevation to 26, according to the calculations and maps the dish elevation should be 40.6, but I had to change it to 45 to get any reception. I found AMC 5 that is due south, and was able to get Signal 80 Quality 50 (with dish elevation 46), got all the free channels, but I was not able to get any other satellites with USALS without readjusting the dish elevation. The pole is level vertical. Am I doing anything wrong?
Please Help (my wife thinks I am spending more time with the dish than with her)
Ibraham

Re: HH90

Can offer only some general remarks (and snide comments :mozilla_laughing: )

>I only was able to get about 20 channels on IA5.

That's odd... The only reason I can think of is the degraded signal going thru the motor, but that should not account for losing 80 stations...

>change it to 45 to get any reception.

Not surprizing, really... we've heard of weird settings once a motor is put into the mix.

> I found AMC 5 Quality 50 (with dish elevation 46)

hmmmm. something is not just right. I suspect motor bracket adjustmet. Is is set to your longitude?

>(my wife thinks I am spending more time with the dish than with her)

Ha ha welcome to the "club"...

I have the longitude set at 26. Even when I got IA5 locked, not all the transponders were picked up, and the ones that did had different signal quality. The closest satellite to the south is AMC 5, and that I am getting fine. I was able to get once HispaSat C on the old dish, but not after I adjusted the dish to get signal quality on IA5. I do believe like you said it must be and elevation problem, either with the motor or the bracket. I tried to bypass the motor, that did not change the number of channels I was able to receive.
Should I set the dish to 40.6 elevation and try to change the motor angle to get a signal?
Thank you
Ibrahim

nah, I'd leave the motor set to your 26 number. THats where it should be.

Did you change your LNB to "universal 1" in the settings in receiver?
Not getting all the channels almost seems as though your universal lnb is not shifting it's dual frequency capabiltiy to get all the channels.

Is LNB power set to "on"?

Any way to install old LNB on new dish?

I have the LNB power on, and it is set to Universal 1. I had the same problem with the old standard LNB with the old dish. I am going to try to fine tune the elevation on the dish again with AMC 5 (closest to the south), see if the USALS will find the other satellites. Thank you

One other thing - I think the HH90 has a scale on both sides of the motor. Make sure you are using the correct side for your location.

Make sure your LNBF is not skewed at all. Also, adjust the LNBF focal point by pulling it all the way out or in.
