83west is my favorite ku band satellite for RTV. I watch it on c band now so I hardly use my ku dish now.

Re: Help alining motor and dish

Ok Yesterday I decided to put the motor back and give it another try. This time I Install the dish a bid defferent. I use and angle finder to set the dish at 30 degree. I set the angle finder on the back of the dish and adjusted the elevation at 30 like the instructions on the motor says to do. Set my reciber to USALS and put my lattitude and longitude and hit move. Set it to hispasat 30w ku and adjusted the true south to get the highest signal. Found the sattelite no problem did a blind scan and found a few channels. The problem Im having now its that when I go to another sattelite: The motor swings to the location but I get no signal. Even if I use the 1.2 setting to move it to the east and west. But I get no signal. Then I would go back to hispasat and the motor swings back to that location and I get no signal. In other to get the programing back I have to do a blind scan again. Then It saves them again. I must be doing something wrong Can somebody help me I think Im getting very close this time. I hope is something simple!

The key is to set the motor to 0 degrees and set the latitude and dish elevation. With the dish aligned and receiving a signal at the 0 degrees which is your true south satellite. Mine here in Chicago it 87W since Chicago is 87.7west. My motor elevation is set for about 42 degrees since Chicago is 41.7N With those settings set correctly then you will track the Clarke Belt correctly. I'm going to try to attach a gif from a web page Rainman gave me sometime ago. I refer to it often.

Re: Help alining motor and dish

Ok do I do anything with the reciver wile setting the dish with true south? Also I just wanted to ask you if I did ok by setting the dish with a angle finder? If yes, where on the dish do I place the angle finder? Do I place it on the LNB arm or on the reflector dish? That is the only thing that I was just a little confuse. What sattelite its the true south for my area I live in florida at 28.2 nort and 82.6 west.

AMC 9 at 83 west would be your south sat adjust for best signal on this sat then the other sats should line up for you.
