Hi

Would you please help me with the installation of my STAB HH 100 Motor. I tried to follow the installation directions provided by Sadoun at How to install an HH-Mount Motor? Satcontrol SM3D12 STAB HH100 HH120 Motech SG2100 and those provided here mauale USALS. I am not getting any signal.
This is the equipment I have which I have purchased from Sadoun.com:

Fortec Star Mercury II
Stab Rotor Sat HH 100
Fortec Star 100 cm Dish
Sadoun KUL2 Standard 10780 LNBF.

My Location information:

Zip code: 18969
Latitude: 40.320478 N
Longitude: 75.352001 W

My mast is perfectely vertical at 0 degree (measured with the Johnson Magnetic Angle Locator)

I have lined up the dish with the motor
My motor elavation angle is set at latitude 40.
My dish angle is 24
lnb skew = 0 (pointing to the ground)

Here is what confuses me:
What is my true south satellite. I tried aiming at SBS6 W with the Ohio news network 11741 H. but did not get any signal. Move system east/west up/down very slowly. Still nothing. What am I doing wrong?Should I be aiming at another satellite? Which one?

Any helpful ideas are very much appreciated.

your settings looks ok first reference your motor(send to zero command) then align it as close to your true south compass reading as you can.the using usuals move the dish to sbs6 mark the pole and mount so you will know where you started and how far you have moved.very slow movement is required move a 1/16 inch at a time east or west to see if you get a lock on the TP you mentioned if not go back to your mark drop or raise dish angle by 1 degree and start the east and west movement again also allow 15 seconds between each move for the receiver to see the change.also if you are using the u bolt mount it may be off as much as 5 degrees high on my dish.

Thank you very much, rainman:

I tried your suggestions and still no signal. I would like you please to help me with the following questions:

1. Before I plugged in all my info mentionned in my previous post, I had reset my receiver to factory settings. Will this have any effects?

2. Is the SBS6 W (the Ohio news network 11741 H) active?

Please note that I have the TV and the receiver by the dish and I have have the signal sound on.

Again, thank you for your assistance.

Probably a typo, but in first message you said 10780. It should be 10750.
Ohio News was there the last time I checked. Factory settings shouldn't matter, as long as you put all the settings back in for each satellite, particularly the lnb type, ie standard 10750, not universal.

You guessed correctly, that was a typo, I checked and it 10750.

I am trying to get the IA5/Galaxy 25 at 97 W. Do I really have to first aim at my true south equivalent ( SBS 6 W) to get the signal or should I just aim for the IA5 after alignment to true south and try for the signal there?
Thanks for your quick reply.

Now I ma really confused.......
This is what I did:

Went back to my 0 position, adjusted the dish angle to 20 degrees, used USALS to move to IA5 97 W started moving west very slowly, finally I hit something and the signal qualityl was 65-70. Then I did power scanned and I got the following 5 readings:
11902/H/5867
11910/H/5867
11918/H/5867
11940/H/5867
11948/H/5867

Then when I go to watch these channels, there is no picture.

Am I really pointing to IA5 97 W or to something else? What is it? How to find out?

If I change the TP to 11836/v/20765 I get a signal level of 0-4 and a signal quality of 70 but when I power scan this TP I get the same 5 readings as above again.

What's going on????? Please, please , please help. Thank you!

if you are not receiving signal when using IA5/g25 TP you are not on the correct sat it is best to first align your true south sat as that will help you align to the arc so you can receive the other sats. ONN should be easy signal to find I get it at 75 to 80 quality on a 90 cm dish.

Two things.
(1) I "think" you are on Anik F1r, not IA5
(2) I think you are wasting your time. Find your true south sat first, and things will be a LOT easier.

Thank you rainman and wejones. I will follow your advice by finding my true south, aiming at bSBS 6 W, first. I will let you know how I make out.
Have a pleasant weekend.

I think I spoke too soon. Everything was working perfectly last night. Overnight and today we have gusting winds and the signal from Galaxy 25 (IA5) was lost. I wonder if my pole is the problem. I can hear the dish rattle with wind and it vibrates. I used a heavy duty tube I bought from the Home Depot I filled with cement and rocks. Here are some pictures of my installation. Please let me know what you think. Do I need to buy the following mount 120FM: Add a floor mount from sadoun? or is there anything I can do to improve the one I have please look at my bolts and screws and attachement to the pole. Thank you!

when you set your pole in cement did you run a bolt or something through the pole to keep it from twisting in the cement if not that is what i would recommend. also when you get set on one sat marked the pole and mount to see if the mount is moving on the pole.

Rainman;

The signal is back up again after I tightened some screws on the pole and in my head. I was so excited yesterday that I didnot tighten the motor nuts. I did all the others except the ones connecting the motor to the pole. So of course I lost my motor evalation angle (equal to my latitude). Once I fixed that, I got back the signal and everything is working like a charm!

I just would like to express my gratitude to you for all your assitance. You guys are awesome!

PS: yes I had marked the pole for my true south bird and yes I have run a bolt thru the tube when I set it in cement.
