Question Hispasat for TVE1?

I currently get TVE International through Directv. The only problem is that I have to subscribe to a fairly expensive package that includes over 100 or more channel that I am not interested in and do not watch.

According to DishPointer website I have a clear view to Hispasat with no obstructions. I am interested in getting TVE1, Canal 2, Canal 3, and or Canal 5. Is it possible to get these channels on Hispasat ...with or without subscription? If not, how can I get these channels and are the FTA programs available on Hispasat worth the effort and cost of getting a FTA system?

I am new to FTA and know very little about it. I have some more questions.

-- What does Hispasat 1C and 1D mean, and do I need two LNFBs to get both?

-- Viewing LyngSat website, there is a column titled "System Encryption." What does DVB, Nagravision, Viaccess 2.5, and PowerVu stand for?

-- Do I need a subscription to view TV with "System Encryption" stated above and how would I go about getting a subscription?

-- Which system (dish and receiver) would work the best for me to receive Hispasat with little or no interference?

Thanks in advance.

Powrline has a spectacular aura aboutPowrline has a spectacular aura about
Hispasat 1c and 1d

The Hispasat 1C and 1D are two different beams. I think that the 1D is the beam for North America.

Power Vu, Nagravision, are encription methods that are standard. True FTA cannot decode these "scrambled signals".

On the Hispasat satellite are many very good channels that I enjoy, even though I don't speak or understand spanish. There is even alot of radio stations there you might enjoy if you understand spanish.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks.
Bill

Bill, thank you for the information. I think I'm going to be taking the plung and purchase a 39" dish and FTA box.
