Cool VENESAT 1 @ 78.0°W is testing

VENESAT 1 @78.0°W is testing now on C band.
Just one degree east of AMC5 aim your antennas and do a scan to see a bunch of transponders transmitting from Venezuela.
Some transponders are transmitting a reprisse of the Olympics all in chinese language.
Even that president Chaves said that no signal will reach the United States, looks like his footprints are strong enough to be received in Florida at least.
I'm receiving with a 6 footer antenna and a viewsat receiver.
I would like reports to see who else is receiving VENESAT1.

I tried KU but all I got was NYN from AMC5, but I didn't get KTEL?
Sat's may be to close only 1 degree apart.

So far no programming on Ku.
To make it easy if you are not doing USALS, from AMC5 just one degree to the east.
Once you move to the east and get 0 quality on AMC5 you will be on VENESAT1.
They have lots of transponders active on C band.
Since there is nothing on C band on the 79° neighborhood, you will get VENESAT very easy.
The C band transponders are at 40% quality and up.
Good luck trying this sat.
As I said before I can receive it in Florida with a 6 footer.
Maybe, I'm getting the cuban beam.
As you all know Chavez will not fail to give signal to his mentor Fidel.

Cool Venesat 1

Today (1/10/2009) the Venezuelan government is doing the inaugural ceremony to do final acceptance of the satellite and officially start broadcasting.
Right now at 10:31 AM EST you can find feeds on C band where they are getting ready to transmit the ceremony live.
I am receiving the signal on C band
Freq: 3887
Polarity V
SR 23000 3/4

You got it rainman. Those are the channels. I'm receiving them with 70% quality with a six footer.
Yesterday I saw all the feeds of the inaugural ceremony as it happened.
Even that I do not agree with President Chavez ideology, it was worth the time spent as it was a historical act live on television.

Question let's check Ku

Have you guys have you checked Ku?
I forgot to mention that while watching C band during the weekend, they showed a screen with the Ku frequency that they were broadcasting.
I did not make any notes but I remember it was on low Ku somewhere around 11300.
Can anyone confirm if this is accurate?

I'll check next chance I get.I checked those chs.today, but still haven't found anything except black screen. Also, the quality was bouncing from low 70s to mid 80s today and the sun was shining and clear at the time. The meter does that on some chs.with my pansat, but I think it was cloudy when I first scanned them and I don't recall it doing that. Are they just testing now,or have they been there awhile?

I checked the ku side and all I found were a few scrambled $tv and $radio chs. with 20000 for the S.R. and Ktel scanned in from Amc 5 with a weaker quality.I couldn't find anything on the analog side. The quality is better today jumping between 80s and 90s.

The Ku side is very hard to scan due to the proximity to AMC5 @ 79.0°W and Dish Network Mexico @ 77.0°W. Venesat is actually in the middle of both satellites.
We were successful on C band becasue none of the neighbors are transmitting on C band.
Those strong channels with SR 20000 are from Dish Network Mexico. They are so strong that even with a linear LNB you can receive them. Obviously nothing viewable as it is a paid service.
See if you can scan just the low part of Ku, in other words anything below 11600.
I'm going to try it myself during the weekend to see what happens.

I have a standard lnb.Mine only scanned in 3 off of the 77 bird and just up to 12360 something.I don't think it will scan below 11700.Even then,if I scanned H or V,I could switch to the opposite polarity of the chs. scanned in and sometimes got a better quality. My dish is a 7.5 and if they put anything on the ku side,I just hope it has a real strong quality with it being only 1 degree distance between the two sats.

Hi guys,

A friend of mine have been trying to connect to the Venesat-1, but he had not been able to do it. He is getting a highly pixelated image, too week. He is in the area of Miami.

Have any of you guys have the chance to hook the Venesat-1?

I read some of you were able to get the venesat signal, that's why I am here asking the question.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I have not check lately, but here in Florida ZIP 33024 comes with very good signal.
Most of the times with some feeds palying in a loop the China olympics, last time I checked they had a brasilian channel with no audio.
Venezolana de TV is with a beam to Venezuela.
What we receive here in Florida is the cuban beam.

I'm getting Venesat signal @60% Quality on trasnponder 11380 H 23030. I get five channels but only one has picture and no sound. I do not know why I can't get sound. Anyways, I live in West Palm Beach Fl.

Venesat testing

Hey thanks for the heads up. A few weeks ago I checked the Lyngsat tables on this one, but saw nothing for Ku FTA, and tried doing a powerscan, nothing.

But I will try it tonite, using DiSeQC mode, not USALS, and do a step mode between 77 and 79 deg sats and powerscan until it comes up.

Thanks. Always eager to try new sats out there

Jim-S,

Use this trasnponder 11380 H 23030 as a guide. I believe this is the only one aimed at the US.

Thanks for the info..............but my QPH-031 won't let me get that low. I would have to use a Universal LNB. I would like to see if I could add a second LNB to my dish (Fortech 90) but I don't think two LNB's can share the same sweet spot. Or find another spot on this motorized dish. I might attempt it just for fun.
