    Satellite TV from Spain

I'm a newbie with the world of FTA, so please bear with me. One of my goals would be to pull in FTA from Spain on Hispasat 1C/1D. I'm in Chicago, my Latitude is 41.8 and my Longitude is 87.7. I live in a 3 flat and I may have a clear shot looking East. The Hispasat 1C/1D satellite is over the Atlantic at 30.o W. (according to LyngSat). My question is, if you live in the Midwest, is it even possible to zero in on this satellite using a smaller dish setup? If so, what combination of dish and LNB would you guys recommend trying? I've been told I would need a 33" dish at 15.o Elevation with a linear LNB, I've also been told I would need a 36" dish...any ideas?

Yes, you should be fine. We have customers in Chicago and St Paul, MN that are able to receive this satellite with a 31" dish.

I'm in the Chicago (Berwyn/Oak Park) area and get Hispasat fine with a 36inch Fortec Dish , I always recommend the bigger dish and only have disruptions when we have heavy thunderstorms.

The fact that you're in a 3 flat may actually help out if you're trying to clear a nearby tree or structure.

My Mom enjoys Hispasat programming , one of her favorite channels is Canarias Intl.

Yes , I watch many channels from Spain for Free.

I actually have 2 setups for Hispasat , 1 dish is motorized and the 2nd dish is stationary ....... both dishes are 90cm (36inch) Fortec dishes.

    jayelem,

What percentage of the FTA in Spanish will I miss not
    having a C band dish ?

I am learning Spanish and want to have as wide a range
as possible but the C band dishes must be 10 times the
    hassle to setup etc.

I especially would like everything possible from Spain itself.
I am in Maine at 69 West so If Chicago can do it with a 31"
dish (on Ku) I shouldn't have a problem (aside from trees)

    thanks, RFenergy

    ALOT .......

I haven't set up my C-band dish yet , so I'm missing out on alot of channels from South America and Mexico.

Ku band pretty much covers the main channels available from Spain.

Sorry I took so long to answer .

En banda C creo que solo tienes el Amazonas y tiene pocos canales.
E el Hispasat tirnes unos 38 canales en espaņol con un LNB lineal.

    After much struggle, declaring victory

    Hola,

The view to Hispasat is clear of trees but... no signal. Nothing East of
61.5 produces a signal. This points to a tilted antenna arc. 61.5W is
blocked now by a tree (I keep moving the dish in the yard) but was
very strong. I have solid signals from 101W to 72W (13 Satellites in
all). West of 101 is in trees. My due south is 69W.

I want Hispasat bad enough to dedicate a dish to it. I will get a BUD
for C band ASAP so maybe that will be the solution.

Also, what are these listings of Satellites off the arc by various angles?
are these errors in the transfer to the Clark orbit? or are they making
access to their signals more difficult. Is AMC 16 really moving East a
    degree per day?
