Are you talking about Sirius the satellite radio service, or FTA? They are two different things. My guess is that you meant "serious" ?
If so, FTA satellite does not need a subscription. That's why it stands for "Free To Air". However, you will not be able to get channels like HBO, Showtime, etc. You need Dish Network, DirecTV etc. for those. With FTA you can receive a lot of interesting channels, though.
Check FTAList.com - The easy list of North American free-to-air TV channels for a list of channels. You can also use LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite for more up-to-date info, but it's harder to read for someone new to FTA, I think.
