QUESTIONS about 3 LNB DISH that I want to install

going to install a 3 LNB dish

here is a weird situation. I currently have 2 cables coming down from the roof into my apt. its an circle dish

im getting the new 3 lnb dish, i know it has 4 lines to run down into the house.

is there a way to connect 4 of them but send them through the 2 currently in place cables and then splitting them out again when inside the apt?

the reason is I dont want to run 2 more cables down from the roof to my apt for fear that I will get in more trouble with mgt. thy are cool with how it currently is.

Any help would be appriciated.

Also does anyone know where to buy locally in Los Angeles a 3 LNB dish for non retail. Best buy and Frys have them for $99 but looking for cheaper or for used ones in Los Angeles.

thanks!

If you are talking about the 3 LNB DirecTV dish then it has a 4 output multiswitch built in. So you can choose any two of the 4 outputs -- they are interchangeable. You don't need to run 2 more wires into your apartment. Just use the 2 you already have; in fact only one is needed if you have only one receiver.

hi bob

thanks bob

is there any picture diagrams on wiring of a directv dish, the 3 lnb one.

so my goal is to hook up my 2 tuner directivo which requires 2 feeds.

im also trying to put the same setup in the bedroom, 2 feeds.

so is there a way to send down the 2 cables down as currently stands and then split that out inside my apt using a multiswitch out to 4 channels?

is that right?

i get confused about how the cable management works with directv and with diplexers, splitters and so forth.

i know ho to put the dish up and find the signal, its the cable situation that I have questiosn about.

thanks alot for answering such probably simple questions for everyone here.

If you want two dual-tuner TIVOs then you will need all 4 cables running from the dish into your suite; there is no way around this unfortunately. You cannot split the satellite signal and diplexers are used for another purpose entirely (ie: to combine cable TV or off-air RF signals with satellite signals onto one cable). Forget about putting a multiswitch inside because you will already have one built into the dish. If you were to pull the dish apart you would find 6 cables (2 from each LNB) running into the multiswitch.
