Problems with trans-19 on directv

while watching 212 nfl network i noticed every 5 sec or so the picture would pixelate. I checked the signal strength and it was mid 80's. But on all channels on transponder 19 they were doing same thing. I do have trees in the distance would this cause this even though it says i have a strong signal.

The only way trees could cause the problem you mention is if the wind blows a branch into the signal path every now and then. When you next check the signal strength keep watching it for a few minutes and try to find any pattern to the intermittent signal loss.

there was a pattern every 4 secs and it was when no wind so i really don't think its the wind causing a branch.

this morning the channel is perfect no disruptions at all. This has happened before for a day or two then it goes back to the same problem.

Well, then the trees are likely not the problem. If this happens only on one transponder then it is not a bad cable or connector or LNB. Most likely a receiver problem. I have never encountered a problem like yours with only one transponder having intermittent signal loss. Very strange... :?:

Because it's only on one transponder "19" is that one that sits the lowest in the sky and could be blocked parial by a tree. It is just weird that all the signals are locked even 19 and still get the weird pixelating on all of t-19 channels.

By the way the problem started again last night when i got home so it did stop for 12 or so hours.

I've encountered similar problems like this before, new receiver fixed the weird stuff. Seems that it could be bad RF section.

pixilation on 19

This may be far afield, but I have a C Band dish that recieves analog interference every 4 -7 seconds. It recieves interference from an old radar station when it is use. I understand weather radar can do the same thing. The explanation I got was that the radar interferes with the IF freqency in the reciever. When I use the same dish and LNBs for my Free DVB, it will pixilate. I know that direct TV is only a KU band not C band, but maybe you have some interference problems, local radio station ect. I never got rid of it, but grounding everything helped. For What Its worth, Bruce
