I am trying to find the proper multiswitch for connecting a Tivo receiver with 2 Satellite connections and a standard receiver in another room. I have 2 lines into the room with the Tivo and 2 other lines in from dish to other rooms. All I need is the 3x4 switch, but most of them say " Not for use with multisatellite dishes".
Thanks, RD Frank
So you have a total of 4 lines coming in from the dish? If so, perhaps you already have a multiswitch built into the dish. In which case you don't need another multiswitch. The triple LNB oval type dish has a switch built in.
you can't cascade switches , multisat dtv (more than 1 lnb mostly 3) got built in switch with 4 output , dish with one lnb (101 degree) need a switch 2x 4way or 8 way .

Yes, I have a multiswitch on the dish and 4 lines into house. What I need to do is split one line off to another room for a standard receiver and also to the Tivo receiver. The other line into this room goes directly to the Tivo. Splitters don't work, because you lose several transponder signals. on one of the lines out of the splitter. ( The other line always seems to work ok.)
Yeah, but like ezsat said, you can't cascade multiswitches. So you are limited to four receivers - or 4 IF inputs. Since you are using dual-tuner TIVOs the situation gets complicated. I seem to remember seeing an 8-output DTV multi-sat dish. I will do a little digging and get back to you.
If you have a triple LNB dish ,it already has a multiswitch built in.You need to get a 4x8 multiswitch. All 4 LNB outputs need to be run to all 4 inputs on the multiswitch,Then you will have 8 outputs to connect to up to 8 satellite receivers. That would be enough to run up to 4 TIVO units using both Sat 1 and Sat 2 inputs. The switch does require a coax feed to power it from a 110 volt outlet.
