Wondering about my Acutrac Pro

I was given a acutrac pro 22 meter without a charger (either of them)...after locating another ac wall charger that would work, I plugged it in the wall..the unit said that it was charging. Within a hour, the screen went blank, and also when I try to turn it out manually, it would not turn on. Is the unit damaged, or is the internal battery totally discharged (to the point of having to replace the battery), or will the unit still power up through the receiver's power?
If the battery can be replaced, where would I find one? Or will it just be easier to get another meter all together?

Connecting the meter to a receiver will operate the meter fine, but will not charge the battery.

The battery could be dead. Also, make sure you are using a 15VDC power supply to charge the meter.

Usually, batteries will die after a while and will need to be replaced.

Would you happen to know where I might find a replacement battery for my unit? You know it does come in handy while in the field.
