how does the SatHawk 4000 works ?

    Hi all,
a question from my side is how identify the sathawk 4000 if the signal comes from the right satellite. Does it read the NIT or does it just look on a specific frequency. I think its the last method. I had some problem that the sathawk 4000 beeps and reports the satellite on more than 1 skypositions. In my case I would like to find Astra 19E in 98%. The sathawk beeps and reports a 99% pc at least on 2 sky positions. What can I do? This is really unsatisfactory.

    regards helmut

It looks at a specific transponder, polarity, and symbol rate. We try to store unique transponders to each satellite (if available). Some satellites may share the same information because there is no unique transponder. IN this case, you will see it identifiying both satellites using one data point.

Is there any possibility to change these parameters that the identifying of the astra 19e is unique at least in a +- 20degree position ? Because the astra 19e is the most important sat for germany, so this would be very helpful. Which are these actual parameters (transponder.... ) for each sat. I think its part of the *.sat file, but not in readable format.

We will be posting later today the program that you can use to generate your own datasets.

Win VISTA driver will be available in 4-8 weeks.

thank you for providing the software.....
I found out now that for the astra 19E is used the following transponder:

    vertical, 12480 MHz, SymbolRate 27500, FEC 3/4

On the astra 2A 28,2E it is a transponder with exact the same values...

Maybe there is a uniqe set of parameters, but I think its hard to find.
Helpful would be to have the transponder list from each satellite in excel format.... copy them together and...... go for it.

At least the the effect is clarified.

For the satellite list and transponder information take a look at LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite or Satellite Control Center SatcoDX (which is much better for Europe and the rest of the world)
