Want to move to a multi-room setup

:?:

I currently have a DRD212NW receiver within a one room dish system. I was given a multi-room system, model # DSM232RD, and have installed the LNB from this system to the dish.

Question:
Can I merely install the two receivers from the multi-room system package with a splitter and have a three room system? If no, what is the most economical means of achieving a three room system via DirectTV? Do I need to purchase additional hardware?

u need a 3x4 multiswitch. The splitter method won't work.

Would this be the same if I wanted to go

with two rooms instead of room; a 3X4 multi-switch?

Thank You for the information!

The most effective way of having 3 TVs running off 2 receivers is to run two lines in from the dish - one to each receiver - no splitters - and then use a pair of diplexers to backfeed the RF down the coax feeding the IF to the 2nd receiver and feed it up the coax into the 3rd room TV - then buy a remote extender for the 2nd receiver's remote and take it into the 3rd room to change channels on the 2nd receiver. The only drawback to this method is that you must watch the same channel in rooms 2 and 3.
