been thinking of purchasing a new signal meter wondering which one you guy's think is the best the bird dog or the sathawk.

The SatHawk 4000 will work with a DishPro Plus LNBF without hooking up a receiver to the LNBF. The BIRDOG will require the receiver to be hookedup.

what about the new birdog 3.0 do you still need to add a reciever? I have the birdog 2.5 and it does ok with dpp. the down fall is that dpp drains the battery very fast. I have to have my birdog full charge, also on the 129 I get 25% on the birdog and on the reciever I get 70%. I read that the 3.0 can handle the dpp better.

The new birdog works fine with DPP lnb's. It even has diseqC port selector.
