Probably because it is getting hard to find suppliers of C-Band parts; and those that do supply it charge a small fortune. The law of supply and demand -- has anyone priced a dot matrix printer lately? They cost like $500.00 !!! Back in the early 1990's they were $150.00...

I would like to see someone here in the states (might as well be Sadoun) become a dealer/distributor for some of the european units which have all the bult in controls for c band/big dish setups. Such as built in 36v positioners, mechanincal polorization, analog tuners etc.. Examples would be the Echostar, Technomate and Manhattan line of receivers.

http://www.manhattan-dvd.com/

I just purchased a Technomate from England. The exchange rate is not very favorable right now, but it was still worth the little extra.

Sadoun has one reciver(satcruise) with built in positioner and skew control

Also now many lnb for c abnd are controled by voltage just like the ku band ones and there are some interface machines to make a c band dish be controled by a diseqc receiver:

Yes, some of the equipment available here is getting a little better.

However standard c band lnb's such as would attatch to a corotor type feed are not voltage controled, and the c band lnbf is not a viable alternative for someone seeking quality signal strength. As for the Aston unit it's my understanding that it can only control magnetic (ferite) polorizers and not the mechanical type found on corotor type feedhorns.

As for the positioners I have a V-box myself that I've used for some time on the Pansat330a, and it works great. But again that's just an extra piece of equipment to add to the stack. Many recivers state they have "built in positioner", but only have diseqc positioning control.

Also one complaint I've always had with the american sold units is that they are limited in their number of satellite entries and positions that can be stored. My new unit has capacity for 131 sat entries, and I have over 70 of them in use. ( seperate entries for c and ku). Don't even get me started on the user control of the settings and data.

Don't get me wrong, I think most of the equipment we have here is great. But I'm always looking for something that will do a little more a little better.
I do wish Sadoun would carry the Invacom lnb line? (hint)
