I have SH3000 5.1.5 and I want to know is it possible to update the software from v5.1.5 to v5.1.6 so I can update the data file to 4.2. From reading several posts it seems the new software 5.1.6 is needed before you can update to the new 4.2 data file. I would hate to spend another $400 dollars on another meter that has the new 5.1.6 software. Thanks for any help.
5.1.6 is not required to download 4.2 version.
5.1.6 is needed if you updated your meter with the new chip that supports DPP lnb's from Dishnetwork. New meters with DPP supports comes with 5.1.6 loaded.
You can update your meter with the new chip for about $50. I do not know if I can post where you can do that but look around, you can find it.

Pictureon, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. The reason for the update is so I can install DPP dishes. Well looks like I need to find someone who can install that chip for me.
