satloader for 3000 not working

I followed the instructions given by the Sadoun site up to the seventh where it says "click the open button". There is no open button from the menu. Beside the satloader when I open it it is called satmeter. Don't know why.

1- Download the Satloader program and unzip it to your hard drive.
2- Connect the special download serial cable that came with your meter between the PC's serial (COM) port and the data socket on your SatHawk 3000 meter.

3- Download the datafile version you want to load into the meter and save it on your desktop or folder on your C drive.
4- Open Satloader program, and if you are using it for the first time, set it to use the correct serial port using the utilities menu.

5- Click on UTILITIES/Download and navigate to the datafile you just downloaded and select it.
6- Turn the meter ON. Wait a couple of seconds until the meter go through the startup sequence and initializes.
7- Click the Open button on the screen menu. The upload to your meter will begin straight away. The progress bar will show you the upload taking place.

It sounds like you are using the wrong program to load the dataset to your meter.

Satloader 2.1.0: SatLoader application is used to transfer dataset to your meter.

SatMeter 2.1.0: Satmeter application is used to generate custom dataset for your SatHawk 3000 meter.

SatPicker: SatLoader application is used to custom select satellites from a dataset.

Quite a coincidence - I followed the instructions exactly and mine will not download either.
Perhaps a troubleshooting suggestion for a 3000 that has a file stuck in it that cannot be replaced in the usual way? would be of help to both of us just now.
Thanks in advance
BTW I have loaded this unit many times in the past without a problem.

OK - I kept pecking away and tried to download an old list - NO Problem!

Re-wrote the new list and loaded it - NO Problem!
Weird - wrote a corrupted list the first time around I guess?
Hoping this helps another. .
FYI

SH 3000 problem

OK - I went to work today with my new list all loaded and found that my Sathawk would not recognize Nimiq 91
I brought it home and checked it on a known good signal - no luck!

I reloaded my old list and it recognized no problem.

SO either the files are corrupted or the sat picker is creating corrupt or non-working files.
Please offer me an expert solution to this problem because I really need to do a list update.
This also brings me to the observation that there seems to be no legacy Dish 119 file available? At least I can't find it.

Patiently waiting for help
Stu

Answer

Sorry Bombardi.
I had thought you were OK with the "check the program" answer.

Using Windows Xp the instructions are correct.
Using the sat loader you will see Satmeter Loader. (version 2.1.0)
When you click the download button you will see a Windows "browse" window with Open at the top as well as at the bottom in button form next to the cancel button.
When you browse to the folder where your list is and select it by mouseover it will jump to the filename space adjacent to the Open button and just above the Filetype space (just like any other windows browse window.)
If you click on it instead of mouseover it will begin to load right away.
Either way is OK - mouseover first - or - just click on it when the Sathawk has initialized. No need to set the back light before loading.

Like you I am a newbie to the forums so if an expert can add to or improve on my answer please do.
Let us know how you make out please or if you still need a better answer.

Stu
