I agree steve alot of guys bad mouth the fortec dishes but I have had good luck with mine.![]()
I have used both Fortec and Wingard dishes and find the Fortec superior for several reasons. The Fortec dish comes with a mount that includes side braces. The Wingard when used as motorized slips without these braces. The dish along with all mounting aparatus is beefier. The Fortec dish is slightly larger providing better signal trap.
From this point out I can say I have installed my last Wingard dish.

i have the winegard 1m on motor and adopted 2- 2 ft braces its don. now im looking to get a patriot 1.5 m
LMAO !!! Winegard rules the dish world - always has - always will. Why do you think it has no side braces?? It doesn't need them because it is designed to resist wind loads better than Fortec or any other dish out there. Installing Winegard is a snap too. No side braces mean 2 less holes to drill into brick and 2 less Tapcon screws. Just MHO...![]()

For as much as I like to help out our members I simply do not have time to answer Private Messages or emails asking about setup and other general issues. Please post your questions in the forums and we will try to help you out. Thanks.
I have a 76cm Winegard and had a 80cm Fortec which is what I based my opinion on. The Fortec was of heavier steel thus less prone to flex. The entire mount system was beefier on the Fortec and the mast portion of the mount came with side braces. Now perhaps moving up into larger dishes these factors may change. I can say in defense of the Winegard that it does setup according to the scale on the mount and not off by 5 degrees![]()
I've installed 2 80cm Fortec dishes, each of both mount time (pole and whatever the other type is), and 1 of the 120cm Fortec dish.
All of them set to a degree of calculated dish scale.
I was really surprised to read about these "off by 5 degrees" postings.
Well, I used to install the Winegard DSS-2076 and it was pretty beefy. The pan is slightly flimsier, I agree, but the mast seemed sturdier than other brands - I suspect this is why Winegard choose not to use mast side braces with this model -- its just so damn butch it doesn't need 'em...![]()
