My FS 786v3 has been up almost a year, 24/24 a day, never turn it off.

I'm using a Lifetime slaved to my 4dtv for C and ku band coverage. The receiver is more sensitive than my satcruiser ace.
The Lifetime's menu and programming system leaves a bit to be desired, those without any satellite experience could easily get frustrated.
    I do enjoy it though.

    Fortec Receivers

I'm a Sadoun Satellite Dealer. I install in Sacramento California area. I used to offer the fortec 786NA model and I loved it. It's so easy to setup and very user friendly. Now since this receiver is no longer available I switched to lifetime ultra. It's a good receiver but I missed some of the 786 featurs like selecting more than one channel to be moved or deleted. fortec ultra seems to be slower at downloading channels and another problem with that is when you rescan the satellite you get the channels that you already have twice. on 786na you get only the new channel. Although you can get away with scannig one tp at a time but that is a long process. Transferring data to another receiver used to be as simple as turning the receiver on. With fortec ultra you have to be at the transfer data screen to do that.
Advantage of the Ultra over 786NA: Advanced scan.

I am using the new Ultra with power scan and simply love it. I like the fact that it has a loop out. That's handy. After a couple of years with a SatCruiser DSR101Plus+, the Fortec is much easier to use and a lot more
fun. The user manual is about as good as they get. I completely recommend the Ultra to anyone... experienced hobbyists and those just getting started.

Bought it from Sadoun online Sunday night, had the box in my office Wednesday morning!

Yeah he's commenting on a post almost 2 years old. I guess some people like to keep these threads going.

I currently Have 2 Fortec Platinum receivers, a BEC 1000 and a Coship Irdeto.

Fortec - Like the blind search, USALS, Multilanguage OSD. Dislike no ac3 need to make dual entries for a sat. One for C and the other for KU. This really becomes a mess when coupling to multiple dishes. Have yet to figure out how to enter a sat and have it usable with USALS. Not a big deal can always set with 1.2 just a pain. Tendancy to crash when searching channels after a blind search when the receiver is loaded with channels.

Coship - Picture quality is excellent. CA receiver so is great for coupling to a big dish. Do not really care for the sat setup/config. Have yet to find an easy to comprehend system to use when coupled with my 8' dish. I guess same as the Fortec. Multiple entries per sat. No crashes experienced as of yet.

BEC1000 - Easy to enter new sats. Can set LNB to each individual TP. Only one entry per sat, just specify the LNB you are using for that TP. Picture quality is comparable to the Fortec. No USALS. Multilanguage OSD but weak in appearance. Crashes frequently when loaded with 700+ channels. Sometimes deleting all channels. Has ac3

Overall I say it just depends on what you want. Dollar for feature I would rank the Fortec 1st, the BEC 2nd and finally the Coship although it does have a great picture
