Resetting the SM3D12
I just moved and am trying to install my SM3D12.
In the past I have had a problem when I send a command to the motor it just clicks and does nothing.
Someone on this forum sugested that I Disable limits (E0 31 63) and then goto position 00 (E0 31 6B 00)
If my memory is correct this has worked in the past but it's not working now.
How can I reset the motor.

I have one of the motors you reference and a Sg2100. The SG2100 has a small hole near the switch on the motor where you can insert a paper clip and depress the detent for a reset. Your motor may have just such a hole By the way the hole is marked on the SG2100 with the word "reset".

In your receiver's DiSEqC 1.2 menu, select GOTO Reference.
The motor will move the dish all the way EAST then go back to 0 position.

I have a Viewsat Extreme and in the antenna setup menu under motor it has a option called installer.
In that menu it has an option called. "Go To reference". I select that option and I get about 5 clicks. But nothing moves.

and what happens if you push in either of the small pins on the motor itself? (there is a left and right pin, moves motor each way...)
My motor would stick in place, I;d have to go to it and "help" it along by pressing one, or both - of those pins to get it started again.
Then the Go to Reference and positioning would work.
Give it a try.

Resolved
I got desperate and started reading every single post about the SM3D12 on this forum and finally happened upon this one.
http://www.sadoun.net/forums/hh-moto...ghlight=SM3D12
I had to pull the circuit board out of the unit unplug the cable that connects the circuit board to the rest of the drive unit; wait about 5 minutes; plug it back in.
Then when I issued the command "goto reference" it moved to the east limit and back to the 0 position.
Thanks for all the help.

Hi,
I just needed to reset my motor (had managed to get a 10e offset to all my goto x.x commands!), and was searching these forums, and the answer was stated above, but I thought I might be able to re-iterate it more clearly.
I did not see button on the SM3D12 to reset the motor manually.
Sadoun posted that issuing a GOTO reference command would reset it, which is correct but this does NOT mean Goto x.x. Instead "GOTO stored position 0" moved it to the extreme east, then back to 0, and my motor works perfectly again.
The moral of the story is goto nn resets, goto x.x doesn't!
Hope that helps

What's "go to x.x."???
The moral is, all receivers speak different languages, but most of them show "Go to reference" meaning move to Posotion 0 on motor shaft scale.
........
I have problem now myself with Satcontrol motor, and that problem is not resolved with "Go to reference" reset: when I try to move to another satellite, let's say, from IA5 97 to G10R at 123, instead of moving west, motor moves all way east, and get stuck there. I saw it last night being on my roof.
Even pressing the "West" pin button won't help: motor makes a ticking sound but won't move . Same with "Go to reference": it moves all way to the east hard limit and freezes there.
I think, may be two reasons why it's happening:
A. Motor got a virus, or malfunctioning for mechanical reasons.
B. Receiver does not supply enough power to move the motor.
Does anyone know, which of two is true?
I played with a second receiver recently, and that involved a lot of short way moves for tweaking. I connected these two receivers to the same LNB input via A/B switch. All the times I needed to switch from A to B, I powered both receivers off. However, I think, motor, maybe, storing positions for both of them, and they may not necessary match.
Now I disconnected second receiver completely, and last night while on the roof, connected directly receiver and motor with a short cable, but still there is that weird problem.
Good news: I still can control a motor, but in very weird way:
When motor stops at east hard limit, which for me is 79° W, I send it to AMC5 sat, just temporary to watch KTEL or other stations there, then I select any other sat, and then it moves!
But, it's not normal, and I am looking for suggestions

The first SM3D12 motor I got from SADOUN did the same thing. It used to get stuck in the far easterly position.I had to manually push it while pushing the button on the bottom to get it to move.I returned it and the technician reported" the limits could not be set" and they send me a new motor.Since then I upgraded to a HH120 and have had no problem with it.

Did you return it to Sadoun or directly to Slovenia?
Thanks for your input!
