I have a 31" dish and am interested in buying this motor [ Satcontrol SM3D12 DiSEqC 1.2 HH Mount Motor to surf several satellites.]

will this motor with this size dish work for receiving other satelites and FTA channels???

Sure it will. This motor is rated to dishes up to 1.2 m so your 31" dish should be no problem. Adding a motor is the best thing an FTA hobbyiest can do.
